Re: [photo-413] Sunrise and Sunset locations in Bay Area

I think the "danger" at Panther Beach is overstated. I've been there
many times without any problem. I'm sure the vast majority of people
who park at Panther have no problems whatsoever. I've been there alone
and with others. I've been there to shoot the sunset and gotten back
to my vehicle well after dark, again with no problems.

I think any reasonably remote beach along the Santa Cruz/San Mateo
coast is going to be a riskier place to park than, say, the parking
lot at Valley Fair, but if you take sensible precautions with your
valuables you are no more likely to get your car broken into at
Panther than you are at Valley Fair.

Having said that, it can be spooky down on those beaches alone at
night. Much better to have someone with you.

As for sunset spots, Panther Beach and Hole-in-the-Wall Beach are
among the best. Shark Fin Cove, just north of those two spots and just
south of Davenport is good, too.
