Golden Gate Bridge Day Walk and Full Moon Rising Shootout

Let's do our Golden gate Bridge walk and moonrise shoot again. The weather is forecast to be beautiful, clear and warm.

This shoot up is divided into two parts. First there is a late morning walking shootout across the Golden Gate Bridge from the parking lot at 1000 Lincoln Blvd at 10AM.

Second, we meet up at the Marin Headland's Battery Spencer at 7:15 to shoot the sunset and full moon rising over the Golden Gate Bridge which will all happen within minutes of each other! Be sure to bring your long focal length lenses to capture the moon next to the tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. Sunset is at 8:03 and Moonrise is at 8:02. The light will be gorgeous!

Between shootouts we may meet for lunch at Hard Knox Cafe at 2PM to eat, chat and share images and information.

Be sure to bring plenty of memory, fresh batteries, something to wipe your lenses (the bridge gets dusty!) and a tripod. Don't forget warm clothes for the evening sunset/moonrise shoot.

It was an impressive gathering of photographers. Funny seeing people carrying tripods everywhere you looked. The competition for parking must have gotten even more intense after I arrived. Sounds like I escaped a ticket myself but the shots were worth the trek up the hill with the tripod. I composed a time lapse photography video from my sequential stills of that evening. Check it out here... https://vimeo.com/41759975 Canon 5DII-EF L[masked]mm

Glad to get notice of the event. Parking tough in a very public space

Well coordinated, people helping each other, exchanging ideas, you really need at least a 300mm to capture the moon, a tripod, and a vantage point way up the hill.

I wonder if or how many got a parking ticket -- I arrived late and to me it looked like the park rangers & CHP were having a field day with all the cars parking in the Bike Lane ...
4th of July fireworks from Conzelman Road sure is going to be a challenge if they keep it up like that.

Don, 200mm is a good minimum but 300 to 400mm is recommended for tighter shots of the moon.

When you say long, are you talking 200mm Full Frame?

I may not be able to make it to early walk part but for sure will be there for Sunset/Moon shoot @ Battery Spencer location.

remember, the 5th is a "Super Moon" -- with the moon at it annual perigee (closest to earth), it appears bigger than usual. Actual impact on your photos is often exaggerated :-))
