Alameda Industrial Shoot-Out

This location is shown only to members

Okay, Folks!

Here you go, finally, that nifty Alameda Industrial Shoot-Out we've been discussing.
Just after our Winery Tour (for those of you who join in), we will be headed out with Vonn to see the local.
Note, this event is planned for AFTER the Winery Tour, you must RSVP separately for that event!

It's on a Saturday - those of you who have trouble making the weekday evening shoots can join us!
It's outside of SF - those of you wanting to explore, here's your ticket...
If you live outside of SF you may want to meet us there - See, we're thinking of you!

2:30PM Meet us at the Alameda Gateway IN Alameda, just outside the Rosenblum Winnery:
2900 Main Street in Alameda Phone: [masked]

With our knowledgeable guide, Vonn Scott Bair we will tour the industrial areas of Alameda.

Well, I'll let him talk it up in the discussion, because this will be a first time for me. I am excited to see it all.
Perhaps we can get a sneak peek at what's in store, Vonn?

After our tour, those who took the ferry will bid adieu at 5:15 or so, in order to catch that 5:35PM Ferry back to SF. Take note, the return ferry will leave us further north at Pier 41 in SF.
Plan on another walk to get back to the Ferry Building on return if needed. The trip back I'm told is longer because the ferry continues to Jack London Square, and then turns around, estimated return time to SF is 6:25PM, further away from the Ferry Blng.

Industrial, architectural, nautical, indoor, and available light photography are all possibilities for this Shoot- Out.

Good, comfortable, sturdy walking shoes are highly recommended.
Water and a snack are also a good idea.

The following gear is recommended for this event:
Zoom lens
Wide angle lens

Accessories:
Dual Axis Bubble or other Leveling method you use
Polarizing Filter

Come meet fellow SF shutterbugs in the SF area. This event is open to all skill levels, and
camera types (yes, even you film shooters are welcome!).
We encourage networking and sharing of information, tips and techniques.
Help each other, try new things, become inspired to make a picture and then Share it!

Remember! To Participate in a Shoot with this Group You MUST have a Camera With You.
This is non-negotiable, you will be asked to present your camera.

Could you please clarify whether it is 11am or 2pm? (or in my case 11:30pm or 2:30pm at Rosenblum). I saw both emails. Or are there two groups?

No worries on parking, from what I've seen... though, the Winery plans on having a "huge" event, so we'll see.
    Should be fine.

For those planing to ride the Ferry, let's meet Amy Chan on the 1:10 Ferry.
    She says:
"Tomorrow is my first event! I'm looking forward to join the ferry ride with your group! My first time riding the ferry!
I'll purchase ticket at the Ferry Building, and meet you on the 1:10pm ferry? i guess.... I'll just look for the group with cameras? =D Thanks for organizing!
(i wonder if anyone is shooting the HUGO hotel before heading
    to Ferry building ...) "

My first time too! CYa, She

So is the group meeting at the Winery or the Ferry Terminal? What address should I go to?

The Terminal! The Winery and landing are just feet from each other, I've sat in the tasting room looking at the landing.
The winery is just a good adress to set the GPS to get in the area.
    Come find us!

This was my first meetup. It was interesting to take photos of an area and subject that I would have not considered on my own. What I enjoy most is viewing everyone's photos because it shows me the breadth of views that people can have on the same shoot. Thank you for organizing the event!

Thanks for the organization! I was very impressed by the great organization of the group. Directions on how to get to the site were provided beforehand and repeated when people were gathered there. Also, it was nice to network with other photography enthusiasts. Perhaps an early morning shoot or a shoot at dusk could be considered next as the light is more interesting in those magic hours.
