Virtual Photo Challenge - Hidden Geometry

This virtual challenge, Hidden Geometry, challenges us to "see" geometry in unusual places that would seem "hidden" unless we look closely. While taking a picture that clearly represents the geometric shape is allowed, what we're really looking for is a picture with a geometric shape hidden in the image.

If you want to play, make sure you're signed up before the start time of 7am on Wednesday, March 20th.

As with our last two challenges, if you RSVP to attend this event, you are making a personal commitment to take at least ONE photo according to your interpretation of the themes provided, and post at least ONE image in the Designated Album for this challenge.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
INSTRUCTIONS
You must sign up before the start date to take part in this challenge.
By signing up you commit to take at least ONE photo representing one of your choice of the items provided. You may take as many photos as you like, but you must post at least ONE image to the designated photo album for the challenge, and up to five images in total - one for each of the items.
HIDDEN GEOMETRY
This week's theme, Hidden Geometry, requires you to notice geometry "hidden" in your daily life, and take a picture that has a geometric shape hidden within the image. Here are the shapes to choose from:
1. Regular Hexagon (6 equal sides)
2. Equilateral Triangle (3 equal sides)
3. Semi-circle (half circle)
4. Triquetra (three vesica piscis)
5. Deltoid Curve (3 cusps)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

HOW IT WORKS

To participate, you must sign up before the start date of this challenge.

Your own personal challenge starts when you RSVP to join us on the challenge. You commit to taking at least ONE photo, based on your interpretation of your choice of the items in the list.

You must post at least ONE image to the Designated Photo Album for this Challenge, and you MUST use the Caption to name the item that each image represents. You can post up to 5 images, one for each of the list items.

No other photos are allowed. Your photos must be taken with your camera between the start and end dates of this challenge. If you cannot post your images on the day you took them, you can post later; there is no time limit for posting your images to the Album once the challenge begins.

Use of all of your cameras are welcome, such as SLR, phone, toy, and point & shoots. Computer post-processing techniques (crop, colour correction, etc.) are allowed. To make it more challenging, we encourage use of "in-camera" settings and framing and minimal computer post-processing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All group members are encouraged to enjoy the photos that are posted by the participants of this challenge and add comments of encouragement and appreciation.
REMEMBER: we will NOT meet in person because this is a VIRTUAL challenge. There will be no judging and no prizes. If you sign up for the challenge, you are making a personal agreement with yourself to take photos and then post your best photos as laid out in the instructions.
Note: If you miss the start date and cannot RSVP, then you must wait for the next challenge... :)
Enjoy!!!!
    How does this all work? Do the members give suggestions? or does the ownership decide? When are suggested requested from the membership? How does it all work?
      Oooh, I love your ideas. Driftwood sculptures. The teddybear idea didn't go over too well the last time we did it... I'll try to drum it up to show you. Maybe you can make suggestions for how to do it differently so that it works better for the challenge. (I'll find it to show you soon)
    Definitely the most challenging, so far! I think I will forever be looking for those hidden shapes. Great fun!
    Thanks for organizing such an interesting - and challenging- challenge, Trish. Looking for the shapes helped me to look closely at my environment...and I really enjoyed the variety of photos submitted by all the participants.
      Thanks Judy. Glad you got to inspect things and "see" differently. I agree everyone's submissions are super and so much fun to view! :)
    Well Trish, I have to say this is the most "challenging" challenge I've
    participated in..... I knew in my head what I wanted to find, but kept coming up short....deltoid curves with 2 and 4 cusps, celtic knots instead or triquertra (i did find a fascinating headstone in MVC...totally engraved in celtic knots).....as always I love the way the challenged raised my awareness to things around me....bring on the next one....oh and thank you for taking the time to plan the challenges.
      Thanks Kelly. Raising awareness is perfect! :)
    Difficult to find some of the geometric designs
      I realize that the shapes were a little "out there"... the images you did capture, Azim, where great! :)
    Just curious... when on the website, and viewing pics. there are two columns. On the left is details about the group, number of members, and what Meet Up groups other people like. in The middle column, under the pic, people post comments, etc. These comments do not all show up for me - they are truncated in the beginning and I miss a few words or letters (even the person's name). Is this just me or is that with everyone? Thanks for your time.
    • Doug G.
      I don't have that problem. Must be something with the way you are viewing the page, I think.
      March 26, 2013
    • Azim
      I opened with a different browser and there was no problem. So I have some setting that is not correct. Thanks for responding.
    Yes, Lovely images, but some have no captions and since it's Hidden Geometry, I'm not clear which shape has been captured....
    Great photos everyone! This is a tough challenge - don't forget to state your subject in the Caption on the image so we know what to look for :)
    Well, it's the eve of our challenge! Have you figured out what you want to shoot? I hope everyone has fun with it! :)
    Now this is a CHALLENGE!
    Looking forward to it...thanks Trish
    March 10, 2013
    • Judy
      Thanks, Trish. Hope I'm not too out of line to suggest that we really try to restrict ourselves to submitting a maximum of five photos to the challenge site. All the rest of the amazing shots could be quite nicely added to the March photo section. Having said that, I'm feeling so challenged that I think I'll be lucky to find three!
      Yes, the rules say maximum 5 images posted, and yes to posting surplus photos to the Monthly Misc. Album! I don't really worry too much about the couple of people here and there who are learning to get into the swing of things... but if there are many people not following the rules, then I will step in... AND rethink how I'm writing instructions! :)
    I really enjoyed the Alphabet Soup challenge, but need to pass on this one, as I need to focus on other things. Mind you, I'll probably find myself seeing these geometric patterns all over the place now that I've replied "No." :)
      Stay tuned for the next one, Mary-Doug! :)
I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
