Outdoor Model Portrait and Lifestyle Shoot - SECOND ROUND!

Update: May 12th I've added 10 more spots to this event as I know from the previous session that our venue/the event can handle it. Please make sure you are RSVP'd on the event list before you come.

**Please join the waiting list if you can't get a spot as spots will open up. I may add more spots to the event if there is enough interest, Ronald**

---

The previous "Outdoor Model Portrait and Lifestyle Shoot" two weeks ago was a huge success, with 5 awesome models and a group of keen photographers helping each other get their shoots.

With the weather forecast to be so good this Spring, how could we not do another session?

You are invited to join us on May 19th at the Creekside Community Center for Round Two (same place, same time, 5 new models).

This event is limited to 20 participants, please RSVP to reserve your spot and please be sure to update your RSVP as WE WILL TAKE ATTENDANCE.

RSVP's close on the Thursday midnight before the event so please make sure you can really come as someone else will fill in for your spot if you cant.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What to expect:
We will meet inside the Creekside Community Centre at 9:30am where we can leave our extra bags (or you can take them with you).
We'll break into small groups (4 or 5 photographers to one model) and work together to photograph a model for a period of an hour. Then, change up the groups and switch models for another hour.
This is sure to be a fun event, open to all levels.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What to bring:

* your camera and gear

* any lights, reflectors and modifiers you like

* copies of model releases, if you use them

* $15, payable when you arrive

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Planned rain date:
If it's raining we will postpone to May 26th.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Looking forward to seeing you.

Best,

Ronald Lee

    FULL ALBUM SUGGESTION:
    Can we provide 15 of our best/favourite images?

    (25 photographers x 15 images = 375 images this leaves 125 for MUA shots and your 'model info' shots)

    May 22, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Actually, Trish has a solution, she'll post about it shortly. I think posting as many images as you want is up to you, personally I'd like to see MORE images than less. Trish's solution will solve any photo limit problem.

      1 · May 22, 2013

    • Hung Mai

      Thanks to Trish for the solution, but I'm probably in the minority who advocates for fewer images of higher quality.

      I believe that one of the most difficult, but beneficial steps to improving your workflow, and the quality of your images in general, is learning how to be self-critical and selective about what you publish. It also makes it easier to give/receive constructive feedback if you're reviewing a small selection of shots that are representative of a photographer's best work instead of sorting through a slew of images from a memory card dump.

      2 · May 23, 2013

  • Trish

    Hi everyone - yes, the maximum images allowed in an album is 500. I've created an overflow album. It's useful to post all of your favourite images rather than limiting. We can add another album if needed after this too! Here's the link to the new album: http://www.meetup.com/photo-475...

    2 · May 22, 2013

  • Hung Mai

    Well, the album is full. Should I just link to my photos on Flickr?

    May 22, 2013

    • Hung Mai

      The album has 500 photos in it, which seems like a pretty reasonable limit. Perhaps encourage people to be selective about what they post instead of just doing an image dump for next time?

      1 · May 22, 2013

    • Kristy || mysticwater

      Yea koz majority of the album focuses on two or three models. I'm still waiting on majority of my shots ):

    A well organised event.
    The location was a poor choice for the chosen theme of 'Spring time'. A park or rural location would have given a greater choice of 'Spring' settings to use.
    The models were competent and enthusiastic.
    The venue was convenient and well sited.

    It was a great event! Thank you!

    This was a great event. Well organized. I have never done model shooting before. Today was a great experience. Can't wait to do something like this again.

    May 20, 2013

  • Barry Bogart

    It was great - had fun and made new friends, and haven't even looked at my photos yet! My only 'regret' is that I didn't have a chance to use my scrim nor reflector. But the perfect light did make it easy. Can't wait for the Superheroines.

    May 19, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Yes, today we literally had the most perfect light anyone could ask for. NO overhead sun, lots of ambient light in magic hour (cloudy). Reflector (silver side) for more glamour shots, but everyone got good shots regardless.

    It was great, thanks for managing the event.

    Hi, I'm new to town and new to this groups. How does the waiting list work? Should (9!) people cancel, will I get notified? Here's hoping for cancellations!...

    May 17, 2013

  • Paula

    didnt think I'd make the list so I have other engagements. Please enjoy whoever takes my spot!

    May 17, 2013

  • John Vanderbeck

    Can I confirm the time on this please?

    The event here says 9:30 to 12:30, but the email I got from Meetup saying I was confirmed says 12:30 - 3:30

    May 16, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Yes, be there before 9:30am as we'll start pretty close to that and we'll go until noon-ish, and you are all invited to join us for lunch at Terra Breads across the courtyard.

      May 16, 2013

    • Trish

      John, if you still have the email notice with the incorrect times, can you forward to me? That might be a timezone bug in the system that I'd like to report to Meetup HQ. Thank you!

    I unfortunately won't be able to make it right for 9:30am, so I am freeing up my spot to allow for someone on the waitlist who can make full use of this opportunity. Have fun! Can't wait to see the pictures that result.

    I am sorry I can not attend this event but my son is in a tournament all weekend and of course one of his games is at the same time as the shoot. Have fun and hopefully I can make it to the next one.

  • James

    Very pity as can not go to this Model Portrait.

  • Aleksej Antonjuk

    When will be deadline for decision regarding weather? For now it looks like that will be rain Sunday morning...

    May 14, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      We'll decide at 8am Sunday morning. If it does rain I will email everyone that we will cancel. I think it'll be ok however, knowing how the weather is here.

      May 14, 2013

  • John Vanderbeck

    Are spots really opening or not? I keep getting emails saying a spot opened up, hurry up and grab it. Yet when I come here, the website always says No Spots Left, 19 People Waiting.

    If a spot opened and someone else took it, then there should be less people waiting. But its always 19 people waiting.

    Confused.

    May 14, 2013

    • Hung Mai

      Am I missing something? I don't seem to be getting notifications that spots have opened up.

      May 14, 2013

    • John Vanderbeck

      haha Ronald my point was that if someone else grabbed the spot, why has the number of people on the waitlist not gone done. It was 19 before the spots opened up and 19 after. I can accept being beat to the spot, but I just found that odd :D

      May 14, 2013

  • Ronald Lee

    This Sunday's shooting event is going to be epic. We already have way more models that want to shoot with us than we need. Please join the wait list as you never know when a spot may open up. ~Ronald

  • Arash Khoddamy

    i am really disappointed to miss this. But i found out today that i am travelling for work and wont be back in time.

    May 13, 2013

  • John Vanderbeck

    Jumped on the waiting list, maybe i'll get lucky. Really hoping a spot opens up because i'm trying to learn and improve my skills working with a model, but its something that is hard to do by myself as it gets costly.

    May 13, 2013

  • Chris Kaufmann

    Ok next question is , does one make make a post here , like gerry and stacy have , or do we re rsvp for a newly opened spot ?

    May 10, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Hi Chris, only those who actually RSVP and names appear in the 'attending' list are registered to come. Those on the waitlist get notifications when spots open up. Its worth it to be on the waitlist, just in case some spots open up this week (*wink*).

      May 10, 2013

    • Chris Kaufmann

      Yes i got a notification today for a open spot , but i guess it was taken by the time i checked on the website .

      May 10, 2013

  • Gerry Rousseau

    Well where do you RSVP for it Ronald

    May 10, 2013

  • Stacy Takagawa

    I'll take this spot in case it wasn't clear with the other message.. Jason can have Richmond's spot. Thanks.

    May 10, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Hi Stacy and Gerry, posting in comments or emailing me doesn't actually reserve you a spot, you'll have to RSVP 'yes' on the meetup event page as that's how its set up for registration. Thanks.

      May 10, 2013

  • Gerry Rousseau

    i will take the spot ronald

    May 10, 2013

  • Peter H

    Will be leaving on an Alaska cruise that day.

    1 · May 10, 2013

  • Gerry Rousseau

    As spots become available, will the people who are waiting be given precedence in the order they are waiting or is a free for all?

    May 6, 2013

    • Ronald Lee

      Hi Chris, there are two ways to tell. 1) keep watch on the event posting or 2) BE ON the waiting list as it will send an email to those on the list accepting group emails.

      May 6, 2013

    • Chris Kaufmann

      Ok ty for that Ronald

      May 7, 2013

  • jason

    I will take that spot, thank, Ronal.

    May 6, 2013

  • Stacy Takagawa

    I mean to come in place of Richmond who now can't make it. First time with this, not sure how the wait list works..

    May 6, 2013

  • Stacy Takagawa

    I'll join in! Let me know how. Thanks!
