Spring Outdoor Model Portrait and Lifestyle Shoot

Update May 22nd: So sorry to make this change at last minute, but we're moving the shoot originally scheduled for this Sunday, May 25th to June 1st, same time, same place.

Why? It's not because of the iffy weather, we might have still put up with some showers to go ahead with the shoot, it's because the Creekside Community Center just informed me that they have a Fun Run (http://www.sciencefairs.ca/Fun-Run/The-Run.aspx), that morning in the exact area we would be.

Many thanks to them for giving us the courtesy heads up and even better as the weather forecast (http://www.weather.com/weather/monthly/CAXX0518) for that entire weekend is excellent.

Please make note of this in your schedules. If you have signed up and cannot make it, please email me directly to make arrangements.

Update May 13th: Models photos posted.

----
Now that spring and good weather are here, lets do another large outdoor model shoot at the Creekside Community Center. The last few times we hosted this (see http://goo.gl/E0MPUC and http://goo.gl/Uug0YH for last year's shoots), everyone had a great time and got really great shots so lets do it again.

Please join us on Sunday, May 25th at 9:45am at the Creekside Community Center for this epic shoot, followed by lunch at 12:25pm at Terra breads just across the street.

We will have a number of models and make up artists joining the photographers on the shoot.

Here are the models confirmed coming

(Note: exact lineup may change on the day, and trying to find a guy.)

What will Happen

• We will meet in room MP1 inside the Creekside Community Centre at 9:45am. We have booked the room, so you can leave your bags there or take them with you.

• We'll break into multiple small groups with the models and start shooting at around 10am. You will work together to photograph her for 50 minutes around Athletes Village.

• Then we'll regroup and re-assign the models to shoot for an additional 50 minutes and finish at 12pm sharp (noon).

For this event you will have more time with your models, but that also means you'll won't be able to shoot with every model who comes, just your two (unless put two groups/girls together for a short time, hint).

This is sure to be a fun event, open to all levels.

What you will need to bring is your own gear, from camera to lighting, etc... You will find people there to share and work with. Please label your gear so it doesn't get lost.

Cost of the shoot is $35, please pay online in advance via Paypal (or follow the prompts to pay with your credit card). There will be no refunds, so please don't RSVP unless you know you can come and no last minute cancellations please.

We are limited to 24 spots for this shoot.

Please post your favorite photos from the shoot on the meetup group after.

PS: in the event that it is raining this morning, the event will be postponed to a future Sunday (will not be cancelled).

Sorry, I have another pre-paid shoot that has been re-scheduled due to weather so now I have a conflict. Next one.

Hi Travis, I will have a group sign in/release form that basically says both the photographers and models can use the images for portfolio purposes.

    Peter, messaged you.

Ron/Trish, I do not feel comfortable paying over the internet. (I guess I'm old fashion.) Can I pay at the time and location of the shoot?

I may want to post my photos from this shoot to my website. Would I need the models I work with to sign a release form if that's the case? Do you provide those or should I draw one up myself, print them off first, and have several on hand with me that day? If I need to write it myself beforehand, if anyone here has any pointers on what to say or a template I can use that would be wonderful. Thanks.

Trish/Ron, is this a "Cost of the shoot is $35, please pay when you arrive." shoot? Or a pay in advance via 'Pay Pal'? I seems to be a little confusing. I'm not a great fan of "pay in advance", especially over the internet.

    April 28

    • Ronald L.

Hi Pete! Its pay in advance via the internet on Paypal. If you don't have a Paypal account, then follow the prompts at the payment page to use your credit card. I don't think I have to explain why we *moved to* a pay-in-advance format.

RSVP list update to reflect those who have pre-paid for the May 25th photoshoot. We welcome your registration if you are not on the RSVP 'yes' list and photos of the models will be posted shortly before the event. Thank you!

Hello... I'd like to try this... But I'm not experienced at all... I wonder if I'd fit into this sort of shoot or not... And if so, what lenses would be suitable.
    I shoot with a canon 7D
    Thank you...

    • Len W.

Hi Darlene. I didn't have any experience either when I went to the same model shoot last year. I just came down and gave it try. Everyone is very friendly and helpful so if you have questions someone will be able to answer them. One advantage of digital cameras is that you can compare photos right away. It's fun. I would recommend trying it.

      April 8

    • Ronald L.

Hi Darlene, I'd suggest to bring two lenses (a tele/long lens and your favorite lens and I, or one of your immediate group photographers, will be happy to give you some suggestions on how to shoot models. You'll love it, promise!

When promoting group shoots, it's useful to include details of the models booked...

Excellent answer Ronald, quality over quantity is the only way to go, thanks Ronald

    April 7

  • Gerry R.

Why is it getting more expensive? The price has doubled within a year.

    April 7

    • Ronald L.

The first few times we did it we only have a few models and a few people (including yourself) complained. So the last time we did it (http://goo.gl/yICCxo) we brought more models and makeup and it worked out better. No only that, we work with a 'different level' of model and makeup now. Aren't you always asking for quality over quantity? I'm trying to balance the ratio of photog to model and its hard to tell if people are also going to change their RSVP's all the time (if they do) so these shoots are the hardest to do and please everyone.

100 minutes of shoot time at $35. This is 35 cents a minute with instruction and models!
