Virtual Photo Challenge: SEEK June 2014

Time for another SEEK challenge!

To take part in the challenge, you must RSVP 'Yes' to indicate your personal commitment to create and share at least ONE image representing your choice of the themes provided.

You may take as many photos as you like, and you can use ANY of the 5 themes provided. You may post up to 10 of your BEST images in the Designated Album for this challenge.

All images must be taken in camera between the date you sign up and the end date, June 24, 2014. You can start taking photos and posting your images anytime after you sign up.

~~

THEMES

1. Statue
2. Arched
3. Glass
4. Shadow
5. Chartreuse

~~

Members are encouraged to express appreciation and discuss locations, intention, camera settings and composition in the comments of the images, and here on this event page.

Use of all of your cameras are welcome, such as SLR, phone, toy, and point & shoots. Computer post-processing techniques (crop, colour correction, etc.) are allowed. To make it more challenging, we encourage use of "in-camera" settings and framing and minimal computer post-processing.

PLEASE NOTE: Any photos posted to the Album for this challenge that do not adhere to the instructions will be moved to the Monthly album without notice. Remember to post only your BEST shots and label each photo with a Theme.

~~

We will NOT meet in person because this is a VIRTUAL challenge. There will be no judging and no prizes. If you sign up for the challenge, you are making a personal agreement with yourself to take photos and then post your best photos as laid out in the instructions.

Enjoy!!!!

I think the virtual challenges are great. i often run out of time to do the day events but I can do these at my own pace and it is always amazing what other people put up.

Oops! The time got away on me. Sorry I never managed to get any photos submitted. Had to look up "chartreuse". Had no idea what colour it was. Was a great colour choice for spring!

Does anyone know of a nice creepy maybe abandoned but safe place to take some photos in the Greater Vancouver area?

    June 11

    • Len W.

Usually abandoned places aren't safe. You could try along the Fraser River for the abandoned look. Downtown east side for the creepy. Bring a friend(s). Maybe try really early in the morning, Like 5:00 am on a Sunday. You can make things look abandoned. Just some ideas.

I think it refers to apple green color in this case. any thing themed on those lines should work fine.

    • Trish

Hi Anshu, yes sort of a light, yellowy apple green. I love apples! :)

For me this challenge is over as I've posted my 10. I was thinking how every time we have a Seek challenge that I have the same pattern of thought. First--OK I'll do that. Second--can't remember the categories. Third--I don't have any ideas. Fourth--Panic!. Then, somehow, I just seem to "See" them. These challenges for me are "See" challenges. Bring on the next one! As a result of these particular challenges I have a list. The PhotoBucket List--you'll notice me asking where things are and those ones are on the list to go and "See" just for me. For now I'll have to wait for the next challenge but I look forward to seeing everyone's ideas and adding to me list. As ever I will take photos of every leaf, stick, stone, pool, flower, statue--well you get it. One of the benefits of using a point and shoot camera is that it is always in my pocket just waiting to take a photo of something I may never get to see again. Keep up the good work everyone!

This challenge lets you think outside the box. You can take a picture of a statue or a glass if you want to do that--everything is OK. Usually I just try to remember the 5 subjects--in my case that's a challenge as old-timers is taking over. If you want to plan your shots with creative ideas that is great or you can just let yourself "see". You will be amazed at how many ideas this group will have and I'll bet some of them will make you laugh! Lucky for me I have chartreuse chairs if the worst comes to the worst you may see my chairs.

can you clarify the last one: chartreuse? are you referring to the color yellow/green or the drink?

    June 2

    • Doris F.

It would be up to you how you want to interpret this. It does not need to be literal, either. That's where we can get really creative.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
