This challenge is about taking a photo from a vantage point, or a recognizable location, for others to guess where you were when you took the photo.
To join in, start taking photos as soon as you sign up through to the actual Meetup date (Sept 2), and you may post your images at any time before or after that date.
There are no restrictions as to "location", but please try to use generally recognizable markers and clues; and, if posting images from "out of town", try to ensure something in the image can be recognizable to those of us back home.
You may take as many photos as you like, but post a maximum of 25 images per person to the Designated Album. All photos must be taken in camera between the date you sign up and the Meetup date, and resulting images can be posted at any time.
The photos you take can be of anything, but here are some ideas or themes that might spark your imagination:
* High point, low point, vantage point
* City street, country road, highway, intersection
* Park, landscape, water view
* Business, eatery, local icon, foreign icon
Make it more interesting by optionally providing a "clue" for others to guess where you are in the Caption of the posted image.
All group members are invited to guess locations in comments on the posted images, whether partaking in the challenge or not. Note, the author of the posted image should provide confirmation when the location is guessed. :)
HOW IT WORKS
To participate, you must sign up for this Virtual Challenge by RSVPing "Yes" to this Meetup. Your own personal challenge starts when you sign up, and you commit to taking at least ONE photo according to the instructions.
It's best to use the Caption on the image if including a "clue" -- to facilitate easier browsing in "View All" mode.
NOTE: any images posted to the Album for this challenge that don't conform to the instructions will be automatically moved to the Members' Monthly Miscellaneous album without notice.
Use of all of your cameras are welcome, such as SLR, phone, toy, and point & shoots. Computer post-processing techniques (crop, colour correction, etc.) are allowed. To make it more challenging, we encourage use of "in-camera" settings and framing and minimal computer post-processing.
All group members are encouraged to enjoy the photos that are posted by the participants of this challenge and add comments of encouragement and appreciation.
REMEMBER: we will NOT meet in person because this is a VIRTUAL challenge. There will be no judging and no prizes. If you sign up for the challenge, you are making a personal agreement with yourself to take photos and then post your best photos as laid out in the instructions.
