Inspiration and learning is the by product of social time with like-minded people. Photography has made me much more aware of the world around me. My camera is my best friend... together we have recorded every square inch of Vancouver.

A terrific Canadian photographer, and my inspiration... http://www.freemanpatterson.com/
My fave is my Panasonic TZ3, it's a comfortably sized Point&Shoot with some manual capabilities and a 10xOpticalZoom. Now I'm struggling with a new DSLR... a Canon T1i with an 18-200mm zoom, big & heavy, and lots to learn.
Anything, anywhere, any time... I'm retired. But I do like to socialize, so I'll suggest a picnic or a meeting over a glass of wine.
There is opportunity everywhere. If I don't see it, please point it out to me. I especially like repetitious shapes, and the play of light and shadow. And 'people' photography is great fun.

Thanks Bonnie! That is indeed the picture I was talking about. Bruce contacted me regarding this photo and I will surely be planning a visit to the place sometime.
Hi Bonnie, sounds like a cracking idea and, hopefully, I will :D
cheers and Happy Thanksgiving :)

Thanks Bonnie for the greeting and checking into my time. I am sure I will have a great time and am looking forward to meeting finally the group.
Thanks Bonnie for the welcome! Looking forward to meet everyone real soon!
Thanks Bonnie for offering to scout out the Olympic Village food options! Looking forward to your suggestions!
Hi Bonnie
Thank you so much for your invitation - yes, I would love to join you sometime for a shoot. I will have to be a bit selective at the moment though re my time as on Sept 4 I am getting a new puppy who will need constant attention for the 1st month so if you would like to get together sometime before that it would be great - or beginning of October - although if it is only for a 2 hour shoot the puppy should be ok I think. Anyway do look forward to it Bonnie - and tks again.
Hi Bonnie-
I went through your member's link to send an email to you.
Hope to see you soon. Enjoy your comments and photos.

Hi Bonnie- oops the Turkish thing is at the Art Gallery - think I said library. Even though I live in Surrey (take classes at sfu Burnaby- not working now), I get around ok with the train/bus. Have a car, don't drive it that much. Have been to the fireworks show last year- the crowds are part of it. Thanks for your comments on camera use. I'll take both cameras and see what happens. The dog meet-up could work for me- just checked the route- train & 20 m walk. No rain would be good. Cheers, Gail
Hi Bonnie- I did not sign up for the North Van meet as I heard it was full. I live in Surrey so it is do-able but sort of far. Bruce mentioned that we should head back earlier than 10 pm as there are fireworks that night too. I would like to take in the fireworks at English Bay (my son might go with me too) and try out my tripod then as well. There is a Turkish festival (first one of these) near the library that I might take in on Saturday too. Maybe we can make other plans to meet. Gail
