The purpose of the class and workshop is to teach the basic elements of composition and creative exposure, and to spend time "in the field", applying those elements. Additionally, the class will introduce a methodology that photographers can use in composing and executing their images.
This class is the third class of a 3-part series (Photo 100, 101, and 102). I highly recommend that you consider signing up for all three classes, especially if you are new to digital photography. Each of the three classes has its own event page, and you must sign up on each event page individually, if you wish to attend each class.
There is no cost for the class. The class size will be limited 25 persons.
The class and workshop together will go from 10:00 PM until about 6:00 PM.
Participants must bring their camera manual, because the class will go back to it again and again.
This class will have two distinct parts. The first part will be at the library, and will cover the elements of composition and creative exposure. We will also introduce a thought process for creating images. This portion will last approximately 3-4 hours.
We will then break for dinner/snack and travel over to Walter Jones Park in Mandarin for the workshop portion of the class. The workshop portion will last an additional 2-3 hours.
At the workshop, we will spend some time at each of 5 scenarios, where the group will discuss what we want the pictures to show, the composition, and exposure elements. We will also work together to take our pictures and compare notes amongst the group. For the workshop portion, you will want to ensure that the lens(es) you are carrying can cover the focal lengths from 18mm to 200mm.
Class requirements for everyone:
- Bring something to take notes.
- Digital camera with fresh batteries.
- Empty memory card.
- The camera's instruction manual.
For the workshop:
- Close toed shoes (for walking through the woods)
- Bug spray
- Water to drink
Although attendance at the Photo 100 and 101 classes is not a prerequisite, participants should have a good understanding of how their camera works, how to shoot in manual mode, and know how to make adjustments to the camera settings. Please review the Photo 100 and 101 topics to ensure that you know what those items are.

Great workshop! Lots of good tips and very informative. Classroom workshops can sometimes be boring and drag on. Not with Larry, he keeps it lively with his energy and obvious love for teaching and photography.

Another great day hosted by Larry and Robert. A wonderful learning experience. Great depth of material. Learning how to go from "snapshots" to real photographs is an amazing journey with Larry as the leader. This is an invaluable resource to members of this group. I highly and strongly recommend these classes.

I see that the weather report for today is mid-60's and misty/rainy.
We will have the class in the library as scheduled, starting at 10:00 AM, and in the afternoon, depending on the conditions, we'll decide then, whether or not to do the portion at Walter Jones Park.

I would like to continue your class 102 photography so hopefully I'm not removed Nov. 17 class. If you have any question please give me a call at [masked]. Lo

I am going to be out of town November 24. Is this date definite? I don't want to change to no if there is any chance you'll switch to another date since I will loose my spot. I understand the reason for changing. I hope you don't mind my double checking.
