First Strobist Meetup of the New Year. 2013 is off to a great start.
We'll be shooting in and around San Marco Square.
The San Marco area is a beautiful historic part of town that has many beautiful areas to shoot in, for example: specialty boutiques, retail shops with nice store fronts, movie theater, restaurants, Balis Park (Gazebo), Lions Fountain and Preservation Hall (1652 Atlantic Blvd, Jax, FL 32207.) We'll be wondering around shooting in various areas. Feel free to bring your own model and other models will be invited as well. After shooting.... for those who'd like to stick around we'll grab some dinner in the area.
Strobist Meetup Requirements and Suggestions:
1. You must bring your own gear, lighting, triggers, receivers, camera, batteries, memory cards.... etc. JPMG does not have gear to loan out.
2. If you do not have your own gear and still want to participate you are more than welcome to shoot using natural light, watch the photographers shooting with strobes or volunteer to be a VAL (voice activated light stand).
If you are not familiar with Strobist please review this blog - it is an excellent resource and a great place to learn the basics.... and feel free to do additional research.

Speaking of learning.... Newbies are welcome, however, I would like to disclose up front that this is not a class/training session. The meetup is being designed for photographers to use their gear and off camera flash to create amazing images. Newbies.... Fair warning.... Once you see how lighting impacts your photos you'll be hooked. :-D
In addition to reviewing the Strobist blog, mentioned above, I would recommend reviewing posing and composition.
Friendly reminders.... Please be courteous to local businesses, ask for permission to shoot inside and please try not to block any entrances.
Models are welcome and encouraged. I would recommend wearing something that you would like to add to your portfolio. **All strobist meetups going forward will always be TFP - Time for Prints (in this case digital copies)
TPF means the model provides their time and modeling skills, in exchange the photographer having a person to practice their photography with. then they will provide digital copies of the images created. Models and photographers are responsible for their own model releases and exchanging information to deliver photos. You may also use Facebook as a method of delivering photos. We also encourage the photos to be posted here. Photographers - if you shoot with a model please make a commitment to provide them with a few images.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via email. Thank you!
