Though I didn't get a chance to interact as much with other members, I did overhear some informative advice on using the exposure histogram. A first for me. This club has been extremely helpful for a beginner.

So…another great meet up! The light and subject matter was phenomenal…I however didn't have the success that I thought I had after getting home and uploading. Why is it when I compose what I think Im seeing…snap the shutter, view it and it appears to be just right, but not to get home and go…BLAH…this isn't what I thought I envisioned. It seems that I find myself cropping in post way to much to my liking….anyone else experience this, or is it me? Am I not taking enough time to view all possibilities…am I distracted with my surroundings…what is it?

Thanks Al, yeah I'm shooting raw, it's more of a composition thing then anything else. Exposure is good.... Typically I post thru ps cs5 and various nik software. It's just a comp thing for me... What I think looks good on LCD screen doesn't always meet my expectations once I upload and I end up cropping more than I expect or want to.

BTW Al…theres definitely a learning curve with using a macro….thats probably part of the problem….along with composition

Going to have to skip this one. I will be photographing the 10 a.m. battle at Jefferson Barracks Park as it is World War Two Weekend this weekend. If you've never attended one of these battle reenactments, it's well worth seeing. Bring earplugs and a long lens. Battles at 10 am and 3 pm Saturday, 12 pm Sunday.

I went with Richard and it was terrific. We should do this as a Meetup next year. Not too many crowds and a lot of fun. And you really do need your ear plugs & a long lens. They are shooting off guns and tanks for 30 minutes!

I went there later by myself. It was a wonderful event. Without this group, I would have probably missed the opportunity to visit the Botanical garden at this season. I just wanted to say thank you!
