Photograph Fisgard Lighthouse at sunset

We have an opportunity to photograph Fisgard Lighthouse at Fort Rodd Hill. This iconic site is rarely available during sunset so this is a special treat.

www.parkscanada.gc.ca/fortroddhill

Normally photographic access after site hours to this national historic site requires special access fees but they have graciously offered to exchange usage rights for this privilege.

The photographer will retain ownership of the photos but grant usage rights to photos selected from the shoot. Ideally they are looking for at least 12 photos from the group. Credit will be given to the photographers from any photos selected for use. Participants will be required to sign a document granting usage rights to photos given  to Fort Rodd Park.

There is another event occurring between 7:00- 7:30 pm. Any pictures taken of people at this event will require model releases to be use by the park. While releases will be available it maybe best to stick to pictures not requiring model releases for this event.

We will have a backup date of the May 26th in case of a rain out.

If you are interested and transportation is an issue leave a comment on web page with this meetup and we will try to make use of car pooling to accommodate you.

    Truely awesome , Thanks to park staff and Tim for pulling that together. It would be perfect to have a flashlight and stay 30 min later and then time exposure paint the Lighthouse at dusk with several remote flash bursts , and with the interior lights on .

    great location - time there was a bit long... perhaps an hour later would have been plenty...?

    Quite excited to see my status moved to confirmed. However, I have to regret it as I have already had another commitment this evening. I hope that I can join the second one, if that will happen. Thanks for organizing the event Tim! The weather seems to be great!

    Carl there is paper work to be done with this event. We also don't want things to crowded. If things go well we will schedule another with for people on the waiting list.

    lots of people on the waitlist, if you have changed your mind, please update your status so that we can get as many people as possible there. Tim, is there a specific reason why this is limited to 30 people? Is that an arbitrary number or ??

    I suggest the next full moon , generally the night before full moon it rises 1 hour before sunset, night of full moon sunset and moonrise are simultaneous, day after full moon it rises 1 hour after sunset. for the moon to reach a height when it is above the horizon can take possibly 30 minutes from that location with the distant eastern horizon . Just a thought.......

    Although the headline "Photographers swarm Fisgard" could look pretty cool on the front page : }

    I think thirty will be a big group for this event. I will try and set another evening for this site.

    hmmmmm...not sure how the system works, but there's enough people on the wait-list, to organise another group...? or is the limit set by Parks Canada?
