Announcing a new Meetup for The Victoria Photography Meetup Group!
What: photo show and tell @ ACDSEE
When: September 23,[masked]:00 PM
ACD Systems Inc.
1312 Blanshard 3rd floor
Victoria, BC V8W 2J1
I hope everyone had a photo filled summer and has lots of photos to share. We did not do any indoor sessions during the summer months as people were out enjoying the summer weather. We had a number of Meetup photo shoots which were allot of fun. I hope we can continue interesting sessions both indoors and outdoors through the winter.
For September it was suggested we do a full show and tell session with members bringing in their best photos from the summer months. We can also talk about what we would like to see or learn in the coming months. If you have interest in showing a selection of your photos drop me an email so we can get a feeling for numbers. Be prepared to discuss how you took your photo to aid the discussions. Depending on the numbers we will have to place a limit on the number of photos each member can share.
We hope to repeat Jon?s Lighting discussion in October if Jon's schedule permits. This would be for those who did not get a chance to hear Jon talk back in spring. This session would be in addition to our normal get together at ACDSEE. I also have a nature photographer lined up for November and I will release details once scheduling has been finalized.
I noticed the long running Victoria Camera Club has made some changes to their club and has lots of events and seminars starting in September. If you have looked at this club before it might be worth checking out again as they seem to have lots of photography seminars coming through the winter. Their Close-Up magazine which can be found on the on the web has a good article on Canadian Copyright which gives one insight into how our copyright laws work for photographers in Canada and changes that might be coming soon.

The idea behind our Meetups was to share knowledge between members and have fun using that knowledge. While we have a forum on the Meetup web page we also from time to time have people sending out questions on the mailing list. I see no problem with this as it allows access to members by members. I would not like to see commercial interests abusing this communication channel but rather members seeking help. There is an option which member can change in their profile to allow only broadcast messages from an organizer to be received if you do not wish to get too many emails of this sort. If you have a member specific question try sending the message to that member only. This will help keep the volumes of email down for everyone.
For anyone who was Beta testing the new ACDSEE Pro 3 I hear it will be released soon for purchase. Check their web page for details.
