September APW Meetup Update: 3 Shot Critique / Depth of Field Tutorial Folks. Great news! I picked up my "new" projector, a Sanyo PLC-XU73 Projector I found on Craigslist. The colors look pretty good so far, and we'll have fun tuning it. We'll be doing our three shot critique, and possibly a short tutorial beforehand on "depth of field". If you want a theme for your shots, try getting some different depths of field in them and think about how f-stop and focus interact (big f number big depth of field, small f number small depth of field). Let's get those photos in by Sunday, September 20th, the end of the weekend before the meetup. Send them to: apw(at)e357.net Name them: Your_Name_PhotoName.jpg Ernest Thanks go to Luis for suggesting the "Depth of Field" topic. Note: By sending in your image, you are granting the organizer(s) rights to reproduce the image either in print or in digital media for the express use in group events (eg critiques, showings), and on web pages. This does not give the organizer the right to sell your work, or grant license to other parties.

Ernest, the company and content were good as always but I wish we could find another venue. the space is very uncomfortable, it's difficult to hear and there is no parking or public transportation. I've always parked on Duke across from the entrance even though there are no parking signs. my reasoning was that, since the business at the end of the street is shut down at night, the police wouldn't enforce the parking restrictions. wrong--two of us (at least) got $40 tickets last night.
Have you looked into using one of the schools? I don't know if they charge. also, there may be a group member who works in alexandria and we may be able to use a conference room at their business. I know we could use our conference room where I work but I work in washington.

It's great to have others give feedback on your photos, and to see other people's work. Great personalities, great setting, (though it was a bit hot inside). It's a good mix of people ranging from amateurs to professionals. If you're interested in photography at all, go to this!

The voice volume was much better at this meetup compared to last month, but I think people need to be reminded to speak loudly and clearly and face the group when they are talking. I really enjoyed seeing everybody's work. The little lesson about depth of field was good, but I think it confused beginner photographers.

I enjoyed the depth of field discussion you presented.
Of course, I always enjoy the visuals. I can never get tired of those.
There is a lot of talent in the group.
