Photo Scavenger Hunt w/Image Review

Duo. I think the strongest element of this photo is the composition. I think the most distracting element of this photo is the sign. I'd like to blur it out if possible without messing with the continuity of the photo.

I like how my eye flows from the first lamppost to the next. I find the sign distracting. When I block out the sign with my hand, with its intellectually meaningful content, what remains is the relationship of the forms, which I find to be very pleasing to my eye.

Strongest element: the fact that the duo isn't on the same plane of focus- very original thinking there! Distracting: The sign. But I like all the allusions it has to duos- the 2 arrows, the 2 hours, the 2 houses in the background. Lots of duos here, but it's perhaps the framing with the sign that bothers me a bit.... I agree, though, perhaps that is too much context, and would be best without the sign. (We can write the city and let them know! LOL)

Also- I think you could have gone quite a bit darker on the exposure- the background is a bit hot....and the lamposts could be entirely silhouetted, which could solve that sign problem- just silhouette it! :D

The sign seems out of place. I liked the washout of the buildings both in focus and contrast. Combined with the bare tree it gives a charcoal drawing look.

Strength: The different planes for the lamp posts. Distracting: The washout is a bit too strong, but I do like just the hint of the buildings.

I like the tones on that lamp in the foreground, esp. the smoke on the glass. And yes, that sign is distracting, an anachronism really. With just the gas lamps and the buildings, this could have been a day in winter of 1913 or even earlier.
