The most distracting elements of this photo were the lack of optical focus and any color. I think the strongest element in this photo is the intense color and the glowing effect of the shadows resulting from adding a red-to-black gradient map adjustment layer. My apologies if this is "too red." I'm actually red/green color blind so I don't see as much red as others -- and this looks pretty red to me, so it probably needs to be toned down a little. :)

I like this, it gives great idea on how feminine this photo is . Love the heels and red.

Franz - Soooo easy! Set your FG color to what you want black pixels to be and your BG color to what you want white to be. Then add a Gradient Map adjustment layer on top of your stack. Done, unless you want to change the gradient between the two endpoints. Same technique for my "unknown" shot, but there I did modify the "curve" of the gradient. Note in both cases that I inverted the colors, turning the whites black, and the blacks to my color of choice. The "shadows" then turn into "glows."

I think the color is the strongest element, but I think the cropping you showed me at Starbucks might make the image even stronger.

Pat, that's where I went first, but by cropping the back of the one boot I felt I was losing the feminine curves that caught my attention in the first place.

WOAH! Love this!! I think it's super cool! :D Strongest Element: Subject matter and color-pop- the two go together very well- kinda Warhol, kinda Mod.... Most distracting: I got nothing! Seriously- I wish I could come up with something for the educational value, but nope. :)
