It would be nice if each of us help and tag our own pics and add a note so we can identify the winers.

Just wanted to say thank you for EVERYTHING you have done to put this contest together. I know that this has been alot of work for you and your volunteers. Before and after the tournament. There have been some issues, but You have done everything you could to fix these problems. I do appreciate ALL the time and effort that went into doing this tournament. Im sure this as been a learning experience for everyone involved.. thats how we learn, trial and error and Im sure the next one will be even better..

So Thank you Jim and all of the volunteers for your time and effort..

I think that the winners should have there names by their pictures. I think if I remember right, that the pictures were put in random order, so Im not sure who picture is who's??

    1 · October 28, 2013

    • Julie V.

I added a comment to each photo that I had place. I don't know if the other people want to do that though. Otherwise I can still help out.

      I can help Thursday.

The winners of the 2013 San Antonio Photo Tournament have been sent out via email!
If you did not get an email, check your spam, junk, and trash folders -then "white list" us so that doesn't happen again!

great!! are you going to label the pictures so we can see which are the winners?? thanks for your effort and for my certificates :)

Thank you Ken. I really enjoyed helping with the event. BTW, we have your SD card at our office. Give us a call so that we can get it back to you.

Agreed, this was a wonderful learning experience for me. I really enjoyed seeing all the pics of other photographers. So many lessons learned for me. The props, the prep, the vision of other photographers…for me this wasn't about "winning", it was about the experience. So judging the event with my own standards, this event definitely set the bar high. Thank you for such a great learning event.

Wow what a great Tournament! Jim I enjoyed it so much. All the vounteers and judges really worked so hard to make it happen. My hat off to you Jim and Robin. Can't wait to do it again next year. Hugs, Irene

Thanks to all the sponsors and the judges for a wonderful challenge. Hope the next one is just as good or better. Congratulations to all the winners. I learned a lot. Jim and robin great job.

I really enjoyed this and think we all learned from it. I'm ready for another. It was a really good challenge to "get it right in the camera" and not rely on post processing.

Even though we had some technical issues, I still had to give this event 5 stars. Everyone was friendly and I had a great time. The sponsors were awesome with their support and lunch was good. Can't wait to do it again.

I know you are excited, this is just an update.
    - We are almost done with the email.

All the photos selected are so worthy. The jurors did phenomenal choosing - giving that it must have been hard to decide on this magnitude. Great job! I have so many favorites! Cant wait to see & hear the ending results.

The winners for the San Antonio Photo Tournament have been chosen!
But there are a few more things that we have to do before we can announce them. For now you can see the top five in random order from each category in the "Photos" section.

We have had some phone calls and emails about the "Wait list"

We have already hit our max of 100 participants, however I would suggest that if you haven't registered already, register and get on the wait list. With events like this, inevitably there will be no-shows. At 8:05 we will start working on getting in those on the wait list. First to register, first to get in, assuming they are there at 8:05.

Please note: if you are on the main list and you know that you will be late, let me know via email: [masked] because at 8:05 we will start to give space to those on the wait list.

Jessica, although the meetup group said 62 going there were people who signed up through Camera exchange. (also some brought a +1, don't know if that also counted towards the 100)

Nia, this was my first time so it was all confusing with the plus ones but it all worked out in the end. I'm grateful I was able to attend & participate.. Thank you..

Mr. Landers. Thank you for keeping us updated. I appreciate it. As a participant is there anything I could do to help out?

    1 · October 21, 2013

  • William R. H.

    HI Jim,
I just forgot to compliment Robin and the rest of your staff who I know also worked very hard on the Photo Tournament. They were intended to be included in the "Great Job! comment yesterday.

Know you will refine the technical details/processes for the next ( hoped for) challenge. I would like to suggest when you do, you consider limiting the "Category's " to 7-10 instead of 28. Also suggest you try to aim our shooting window to include more of the golden hour light (morning or evening) if possible. Loved the challenge and am hoping for more!

    3 · October 21, 2013

    • Nia H.

Love the fact that internet issues/downloading issues are not deterring you for holding a contest like this again in the future. :)

      1 · October 21, 2013

    • Josh W.

I think having the participants submit their own entries could help. If you went the internet route, you could create a folder for each category, similar to the way you have the monthly challenges, and then everyone could upload their own photos. If using the internet I would suggest asking people who are connected to the Wifi but not actively submitting entries to please disconnect to preserve bandwidth.

      -Or-

We could setup a Local Area Network and use an external hard drive for file sharing with different folders for each category. This could be done with dedicated workstations or with people bringing their own laptops/tablets. I can and would be willing to setup the network and assist in anyway needed.

      4 · October 21, 2013

  • Alicia

where are you guys seeing the entries so I can review mine??

    1 · October 21, 2013

    • Pauline O.

but the one for the car, is not the picture I entered that picture was enter for something else. and then my photographer in action . no picture.. and there are a few others also that are missing. or in the wrong catergory..

      October 21, 2013

    • Jim L.

I believe that this can easily be corrected, please contact me ASAP:[masked]

Got my pictures back. They were renamed in my SD card and only be read by computer. Thanks for the tips, Jim.

    1 · October 21, 2013

Great event! My daughter lost her pics too, but I'll have her look to see if they were re-named. This was a great first event and I'm betting a lot of kinks will be worked out for the next one, which we are already looking forward to. Thanks so much to you and your team, Jim. It was loads of fun and very informative. We're definitely looking into a workshop next! :)

    2 · October 21, 2013

  • Megan

Hey Jim! I was checking my memory card to make sure I had my images, and my entries were renamed on my memory card with the category they were entered in. The problem is that several of the photos were not even close to the photos that I chose to enter into that category. There were 9 or 10 of my entries that the photos were wrong. Is there anything that can be done to fix that?

    October 20, 2013

    • Megan

No, sorry. I had to be at work at 7 this morning and won't have a lunch break until probably at least 1.

      October 21, 2013

Well you have time to email them to me?

      October 21, 2013

  • Ken M.

Great event. I just downloaded my pics to my pc with only one glitch. Did not recognize the files, but I found everything in Windows Explorer and recovered everything, even the bad pics. lol....

    1 · October 20, 2013

  • Judy R.

I really enjoyed this event... warts and all. I greatly appreciate your efforts to organize such a huge undertaking. The Dominion is beautiful and lunch was yummy. I felt like a winner just being a part of this event. I hope that you do not get discouraged from trying this again I the future. I am looking forward to seeing the winning entries. I hope you post the photos taken by the winners and runners up of each category. I know it will be a lot of work, but it will be so good to see the different perspectives of all the photographers who are selected as winners. Thanks again for hosting this event.

    2 · October 20, 2013

I shot in JPEG/RAW and downloaded all photos to an external hard drive before submitting my card.

    October 20, 2013

  • Natalie

I was able to retrieve images on my computer from the memory card. Not too bad but wished now I would have entered some of the other shots I deleted before turning card in- oh well next time will be more attentive to that. Great time spent yesterday! So proud of this club and all the hard work these organizers do.

    Jim and all your Volunteers,
A great event. Fun and challenging. You knew that putting this event together would be a challenge. Did you have any idea that the "aftermath" would be so complicated and frustrating? Dear fellow participants, please chill out. Give them a break. If your entries are so awesome that you have to worry about getting your photographs back I am sure you will receive a price. Isn't that much better? Jim, is there anything I can do to help to reduce your workload? Just let me know.

    Thanks to All,.

    2 · October 20, 2013

  • Josh W.

I have noticed that the photos I entered into more than one category, only have the name of one category that they were entered in. Should there have been an instance of each photo with their respective category name on the card? ie the photo that was entered in two categories shows on the memory card twice, once as the name of Cat 1 and one as Cat 2

    October 20, 2013

    • Jim L.

It should only show the last one the volunteers entered it in. They renamed it, they did not "save as"

Despite the technical gremlins, this was a fantastic event; well organized and executed. I've been a major event planner before and know how much effort it takes to pull together something of this scope and magnitude. THANK YOU for a wonderful day and a fun opportunity to do what we love... take pictures!
