I first heard about PhotoSA when looking on the web for CSAP. At that time I decided to check out CSAP first and see how things go there. I am enjoying being a member there and since Jack Smith told us (GSACC) at the last meeting that he will be a presenter for your group on 10 April, I have decided I want to attend on that date.
I enjoy hearing and learning about all facets of photography and post processing images - anything to help me improve my photographic skills.
I have never considered myself to be a professional photographer because I never made my living that way. I had a photography business for a while, but gave that up some time ago. I consider myself an advanced amateur.
I use Nikon equipment; a D700 and a D300, plus a D7100 as a light weight walk-around system. My lenses range from an 8mm fisheye to a 500mm telephoto.
I now photograph what I want, when I want, where I want, and IF I want. My preferences are nature an landscapes.
I am retired Air Force. I have done weddings, etc. and Alamo racetrack and Charreada. One image was sold for an Arizona State Fair billboard. I had a 2nd place PSA nature print of the year. I am president of the GSACC and a member of CSAP.
I really didn't get the opportunity to mingle very much or meet a lot of folks I didn't already know. Part of this was due to the crowded conditions - that is a small, oddly shaped room, but primarily because I wasn't sure what to expect (my first time there) and didn't want to cause any delay in the start of the program. Really, I was just lazy. I'll try to do better next time I come, I don't know for sure if I'll be able to make the next meeting, but I"ll try.
