[COTERIE]: AN INTIMATE CIRCLE OF PEOPLE UNIFIED BY A COMMON INTEREST OR PURPOSE.
Photo Coterie offers Seattle photographers an opportunity to collectively critique each others' photographs and portfolios, review new work in progress, collaborate on group projects and exhibitions, and socialize with creative individuals on a personal and professional level.
Our home base and sponsor is Lumenars Photographic Studio & Gallery, which is located in Pioneer Square and open to the public for First Thursday artwalk. Part of the Lumenars Gallery is dedicated to showcasing selected work from active members of Photo Coterie. Each month, a photographer will be chosen from our photo critique and portfolio review nights to exhibit in the Lumenars Gallery as a featured photographer of Photo Coterie. Each quarter, members of the group may collaborate on a group exhibition filling the entire gallery space.
Additionally, active Photo Coterie members may receive discounted rates on Lumenars Photographic services including studio rental and fine art printing. Lumenars photographic also offers a variety of educational workshops specifically tailored to the needs of amateur and advanced-amateur photographers.
The strength of any photographic community lies in attracting a diverse range of members that bring a passion for photography and a desire to not only benefit from, but also give back to the community by sharing their unique experience with others. Photo Coterie is open to anyone practicing any genre of photography whether fine art, portrait, fashion, theater, product, architectural, etc. Professionals and amateurs alike are welcome.
Every Photo Coterie member adds value and we need our members' input and participation to help make this group the best it can be! We already have some exciting things in the works but we encourage members to let us know how we're doing and offer suggestions for future meetups.
