New Meetup: Canine Good Citizen Workshop

From: Dawn
Sent on: Wednesday, December 22, 2010 9:50 AM
Announcing a new Meetup for Chako's Pit Bull Classes and Events in Sacramento and beyond!

What: Canine Good Citizen Workshop

When: Sunday, January 16,[masked]:00 AM

Price: $20.00 per person (FREE CGC Testing in the afternoon open to ALL meetup members, regardless of whether you sign up for this workshop).

Where: (A location has not been chosen yet.)

This Canine Good Citizen Workshop will take you through the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test and allow you to practice each of the 10 test items. You can learn more about the test items at

This is open to all bully breeds and mixes. A FREE CGC test for Pit Bulls will follow in the afternoon in a separate session. You will NOT need to take the workshop to try for the CGC test (open to any meetup member). Of course, if you take the workshop, you may also sign up for the free CGC test for Pit Bulls in the afternoon (optional)..

For the workshop (not the test), you may use any collar you please, but if you use a flat buckle collar or a prong collar, you MUST have a second backup collar. We recommend that you buy a leash with a snap at each end and hook one snap to each collar OR a use a dog coupler to hook to each collar. If you don't know how to back up, have your dog on two collars when you arrive and we can show you. We'll have a couple of pieces of appropriate equipment for you to buy or borrow.

Do not bring dogs that are overly dog or human aggressive to this workshop. One dog per person. Workshop will run from about 10 a.m. until about noon. Please arrive on time.

Please Bring The Following Items with You:

  • TASTY treats with you (chicken or steak) and do NOT feed your dog the meal before this workshop.
  • Your dog's brush
  • A regular leash and, if you have one, a longer line (we'll have some, too)
  • Your dog's proof of rabies vaccination
  • Bags to pick up after your dog

We will be inside the auditorium if raining and possibly outside on the grass if it's nicer weather.
Wear closed-toe shoes.
