Starring Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener, and Wallace Shawn, this beautifully acted drama follows the members of a world-renowned string quartet who struggle to stay together after their cellist (Walken) announces, on the eve of their 25th anniversary concert, that he is retiring.
The quartet wrestles with issues of mortality, infidelity and of course, competing egos. Inspired by and structured around Beethoven's Opus 131 String Quartet in C-sharp minor, the film pays homage to the cultural world of New York and the vitality of the performing arts.
