BOYHOOD

This film has been getting great reviews.

Filmed over 12 years with the same cast, filmmaker Richard Linklater (Bernie, Before Sunset, Waking Life) has created a groundbreaking coming-of-age story as seen through the eyes of a boy – who literally grows up on screen before our eyes. Starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as his parents and Lorelei Linklater as his sister, it's both a nostalgic time capsule and an ode to growing up and parenting.

From road trips and family dinners, to birthdays and graduations – these moments become transcendent here, and it becomes impossible to watch this family without thinking of your own. The evocative soundtrack spans the years from Coldplay's “Yellow” to Arcade Fire's “Deep Blue.” (Richard Linklater; USA; 2014; 165 min)

A very good film with strong performances, though not up to all the hype.

I have a bachelorette party on Saturday, so I can't make it, but I really want to see this movie. If anyone else can't make it Saturday but could see it on Friday, please leave a comment here. Thanks.
