Ai WeiWei: Never Sorry @ Harris Theater (& Dinner)

***6 pm meet at Chinatown Inn (522 3rd Avenue, downtown- Google map: http://goo.gl/maps/sUku8) for dinner (reservation for 10 pp at 6 pm, under "Chris"), then we shall meet the others in the theater lobby between 7:30 and 7:50 pm.  I'll have a sign, but if you can't find us, feel free to call my cell at[masked] - Chris***

In recent years artist Ai Weiwei has garnered international attention as much for his ambitious artwork as his political provocations. This fascinating documentary examines the complex intersection of artistic practice and social activism as seen through the life and art of China’s preeminent contemporary artist. For two years, Beijing-based journalist/filmmaker Alison Klayman documented Ai’s artistic process in preparation for museum exhibitions, intimate moments with his family, and his increasingly public clashes with the Chinese government. The result is a detailed portrait of the artist and a nuanced exploration of contemporary China. (Alison Klayman; USA; 2012; 91 min)

Great dinner & company! The film was well done and I hope more people see it and understand how political censorship halts true progress.

Enjoyed meeting new art house film fans & reconnecting w/ Cheryl & Elisabeth at a delicious Chinese dinner before the film. The movie was excellent. My first time at Harris Theater. An all-around terrific evening!

****Is anyone interested in finding a place to see tonight's BLUE MOON after the movie? Maybe Highland Park? There won't be another one until 2015.

I will be calling the restaurant tomorrow (8/30) for a reservation - looks like we may have 10-12. I will post confirmation details for the reservation tomorrow.
AND the showtimes are now posted - 8 pm is the film start time, so anyone not doing dinner, we will meet in the lobby of Harris Theater between 7:30 and 7:50ish.

Hi, everyone! If you haven't already, please let me know by next Wednesday the 29th if you will be at dinner at Chinatown Inn. I will make a reservation, depending on the number of people who respond. Bumping the time to 6 pm, to allow plenty of time to eat, then walk over to the theater.

Absolutely - we should be getting to the theater around 7:30 and will wait in the lobby with a sign until 7:50 or so (assuming the film starts at 8 pm - times are still not listed yet!)
