The Central Park Five @ Regent Square

Show time at 8, meet in lobby by 7:50.

In 1989, five black and Latino teenagers were arrested and charged for brutally attacking and raping a white female jogger in Central Park. News media swarmed the case, calling it “the crime of the century.” But the truth about what really happened didn't become clear until after the five had spent years in prison for a crime they didn't commit. This riveting film is based on Sarah Burns' best-selling book and co-directed by her husband and father. The true story, as incendiary as it is, serves as a mirror for our times. (Sarah Burns, David McMahon, Ken Burns; 2012; USA; 120 min)

At this point, the Meetup is still on. Unless there are no buses running or something like that, I will be there. Hope the roads are clear enough for everyone to attend. Otherwise, this film will be shown through the 31st.

I hope to make it to the meetup but will have to see if the roads are driveable. It depends on how long it takes me to get home this afternoon after work.

Note: they will be showing Beasts of the Southern Wild at 6 pm at the theater, so the lobby may be a bit crowded when you get there...
I would, however, suggest that everyone meet in the lobby by 7:45 - we will be grabbing seats then. I will remember the sign this time and will wait in the lobby until 7:55 for any latecomers.
As always, it is possible we will head out to a local eatery afterwards for some drinks, eats and ruminations about the film! See you then!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
