Tavern 245 (Downtown)

Brooke and I are going to try starting something a little different this time: a quarterly meetup at one single location: Tavern 245. The intent here isn't to cut back on our more adventurous meetups all around town, but to take advantage of an opportunity to partner with a venue that has served us well in the past. We'll continue to aim for a meetup every other week and squeeze our events at Tavern 245 in on one of our off weeks.

details: Urbanspoon / City Paper / Post-Gazette

What's in it for us? A couple of things. First, we're going to run a free beer tasting at every event. Brooke and I will pick out a relevant theme and work with Tavern 245 to order a few example kegs. When it comes time for the meetup, I'll talk about each of the selected kegs and pass out samples -- provided free of charge by Tavern 245. In addition to the samples, the restaurant will be setting out some appetizer platters to munch on. All you need to do is show up and order a few beers.

This is certainly something new for the the group, but Brooke and I both think it's at least worth a try. That said, I am very much interested in your feedback. If you have a particularly strong opinion on the matter, feel free to add a comment below and let me know what you think!

Hi everyone, I had a great time at my first Beer Meetup and got a chance to talk with some of you about our beer app.

A group of us are at Startup Weekend Pittsburgh right now building the "pandora for beer" and we would really really really like your input.

If you have a minute please fill out our survey. Thanks!

Thanks so much for your patience and understanding, everyone! We had some miscommunications with the venue and didn't exactly deliver the tasting and free appetizers that were promised but it seems like everyone still had a great time!

Sorry for the late RSVP. Just found out I can make it if space is available. This will be my first meetup with the group and I'm looking forward to it!

Free Food?! Free Beer?! I'm sure no one would be interested in an event like that ;)

I concur! Terrific idea. You bring a lot of business and terrific word of mouth advertising to wherever you take us. Seems to me you ought to even be able to get sponsors for the meetup costs like the hiking meetup...

What could be better for my first meetup with the group. I have been to wine tastings earlier. In my opinion its a great idea.

Probably! Provided this isn't an April Fool's Joke, of course.
