Picnic at North Park

We thought we'd try something a little different! A picnic in the park! We're charging $5.46 per person (the extra $.46 covers our PayPal fees) to cover the costs of renting the grove and getting the permit that allows us to bring and consume alcohol in the park. Any money collected on top of that $80 will be put towards hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, plates, napkins, and silverware. And if we have anything left over after all of THAT, we'll donate it to a charity.

Beer: THIS IS A BYOB EVENT!!!! Please bring beer for yourself and to share. We may even do a 6-pack exchange if there's any interest in that.

Food: Aside from burgers and dogs that I hope we'll be able to provide, it would be great if everyone could also bring something to share. Appetizers, side dishes, desserts, something else for the grill, etc.

Etc: You might want to bring your own chairs, in case there isn't enough seating at the picnic tables. Some lawn games might be fun, too! Cornhole, anyone?

RSVPs are now open! Hope you can join us!

What a great way to spend an afternoon---hanging out with really cool people who were willing to share delicious food and an extensive variety of beer! Thanks, Brooke, for organizing such a pleasant gathering! Your choice of our grove allowed us to enjoy the perfect weather.

Am bringing the Harvest Collection from Samuel Adams: Octoberfest; Boston Lager; Hazel Brown; Latitude 48 IPA; Harvest Pumpkin; Ruby Mild new style. I bought some 3 oz. cups so we can sample these. For food, I am going to make bbq chicken sliders on pretzel buns and as a seasonal addition a whipped pumpkin dip with graham crackers and vanilla wafers.

I have a huge package of hot dogs plus the buns to go with them. I can also bring ketchup, mustard, and mayo. I'll probably also bring some kind of side dish, but I don't know yet what it will be.

I will be at the pirate game but this was a great idea and sounds like fun!

I would be ok with a 6 pack exchange and would participate. If we are not doing that - well let us know what we should bring or how much. I may bring one guest who does not drink. Do they also need to pay 5.00?

    September 6, 2013

    • Brooke

Sorry, Bill, everyone needs to pay the fee. It's just easier. Part of the cost is for just reserving the grove, so let's just pretend that your guest's $5.46 is going towards that rather than the alcohol permit. ;-)

Brooke - Excellent Idea and on an Excellent Day! If the Steelers were playing Monday Night Football in the 'Burgh instead of in Cincinnati the Hump would be there for the Sunday Picnic! Have a Blast!

I wish there would be a way to keep the ice cream frozen because I'd love to share a taste of a Southern Tier Creme Brûlée ice cream float. It's a treat!

If you RSVPd prior to the meetup details being announced, I'm sorry, but I had to change your RSVP status to "not attending" only because this is a paid event and you'll need to submit payment before you can RSVP "yes". (My bad for not closing RSVPs back when I added the vague meetup details as a placeholder.) We should be able to get you back on the "yes" list as soon as we figure out the payment options. It's totally not personal! Thanks for understanding!
