As many of you already know, I'm one of the organizers for the annual TRASH Homebrew Competition. Several members of the meetup are also active in the club, but many of you are not. I'm sending this message to tell non-members how they can participate in both the competition and our post-competition banquet.
First, we're looking for volunteers on the day of the competition. If you have some experience with the BJCP style guidelines, you can sign up a judge. If you'd like to help out and learn more about tasting and classifying beer, you can sign up as either a judge assistant ("steward") or general support staff. The event lasts from 9:00am until about 4:00pm. That means it's a fairly large time commitment, but we provide lunch and even send you home with a commemorative tasting glass.

Each year, the day after our homebrew competition, the club sponsors a post-competition banquet where we pass out competition results and prizes. The event also includes dinner from Rock Bottom, an opportunity to sample from among the unused competition entries, and a chance rub elbows with the local homebrew community.
This year, we're adding even more reason to attend: live music from a fellow homebrewer, a free sampling glass, and an open invitation to anyone who wants to come — whether you entered the competition or not. Even if you want to skip the awards presentation, you're more than welcome to show up for dinner, beer samples, and just a general good time.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Be sure to sign up soon!
Whether you're a veteran homebrewer, an up-and-coming homebrewer, or just want to learn more about beer, I think both events offer a great opportunity to expand your horizons and make a few new friends in the local beer community.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there!
