Doggie Paddle Pool Party at Alameda Pool

The pool party is just one of the many events scheduled for Doggie Fun Day at Alameda Park! Sponsored by Butler County Parks and Recreation, the pool party is scheduled from 1-4:30 p.m. and costs $5 to attend (you must have your dog's license and vaccination records to participate).

The whole event, Doggie Fun Day, includes many other fun activities such as obedience, rally, agility, CGC/TDI testing, refreshments, vendors, a doggie shoppe, raffles, free parking, and much more. Registration for many of these activites begins at 8:30 a.m.

Julie was able to get qualified in obedience and got 2nd place, also in conframation we got 1at and best of breed... I think the best time was in the pool! We also won a few raffles... All in all I had a great time and will be going again next year

I wasn't sure where the group was meeting at but I attended with my dog Rosie. We had a good time just the two of us. The only issue I have is that there are some dogs who shouldn't be off-leash while at the pool area (most notably a few unneutered male dogs that were humping other dogs) as well as unattended young children both in the water and out. As a parent, I thought that was a bit dangerous! I watched a toddler be knocked over by a mastiff while in the shallow water and another woman pulled him back up before the mother could reach him.
I also had a group of three children unattended by parents run straight up to my dog and I told them if they wanted to pet someone's dog, they need to ask first and not just run right up to a dog. Where were the parents???

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
