Five Yogic Sciences - Weekly Free Yoga Program

Five Yogic Sciences - Weekly Free Yoga Program
***Starting Sat. June 29th ***
Weekly Every Sat., 9:30 - 11:15am (except 4th of July wkend/Jul6)
Learn, explore and experience yoga holistically -- nourishing not just the body, but mind and soul too -- according to Swami Mukundananda's yogic principles of "Yoga for the Body, Mind and Soul", these sessions will delve into learning and experiencing the 5 Yogic Sciences - the practice of yoga poses (Yogasan), breathing exercises (Pranayam), Meditation (Rhoop Dyan), Subtle Body Relaxation, and Science of Proper Diet. Not required to attend all sessions to participate. Sessions accommodate all mobility levels and experience.

(No charge for sessions, though donations to JK Yog are welcome)

We will be meeting once per week to learn about and deepen our practice of the 5 Yogic Sciences --- they are:

1) yogasan (yoga poses);

2) pranayam or breathwork/breathing exercises;

3) meditation;

4)subtle body relaxation; and

5) science of proper diet.

Each session will touch on all of these 5 sciences. Sessions will be approx 1-1/2 hrs long and will be once per week.

You can come to all the sessions each week or you can come when your schedule allows.

We kindly request that you RSVP and sign up for the sessions as space may be limited. You can indicate in your sign up whether you are interested in coming on a weekly basis or that you will be coming from time to time when schedule permits.

There is currently no fee for this class but volunteers will be renting a space for it so any donations are welcome to offset those costs.

Bring your own yoga mat, and/or pillow/blanket.
If you don't have a mat or forgot yours, it's ok, we will have some extras.
Wear comfortable loose fitting clothing

    I really enjoyed my Yoga session with Marika and other participants. She has a very engaging and soothing voice as she guided us through the gentle poses and nuturing meditation. I noticed that she was considerate of possible health considerations for some with cervical issues and she made mention of that and what pose to not attempt. I will return for the next session and told a friend about this Yoga class.

    Would you tell me who is teaching the classes and about their experience is as a yoga teacher?

    • Chandra M

      Sure, I am teaching the class. I have been a yoga practicioner for the last decade and also a teacher. I've received training from teachers from India, from the Himalayan Institute, and from my Spiritual Teacher Swami Mukundanda, on whose teachings these classes are based. I hope this is helpful and if you have more questions, please don't heistate to be in touch with me.
