Pittsburgh Glass Center

Free Admission: 10am – 9pm

This was a very rewarDing experience. Knowledgeable and friendly staff, and beautiful, impressive pieces. Will visit again for a workshop.

I thought the entire tour, and demonstrations offered at PGC were great. Jamie & I stayed to watch two fellows blowing glass, & it got very crowded around 5PM. That's around the time we both decided to leave. I'm glad I had the chance to see all the center has to offer.

It IS very much worth the time to visit. I got there around 3:45PM, & discovered Becky, who was to be our tour guide, was actually working the front desk. Another woman began chatting with me & I was telling her about this group. She had never heard of meet-up groups, but was thrilled by the idea of finding others who might have shared interests. Not long after that, Jamie arrived and we had our official tour, and the woman I had been chatting with, joined us. I think Becky expected a larger group, though she did a great job with the tour. I'm glad I was able to participate in the that. Great place. Now I want to go back & take a class!! Rachael is right, they do have some awesome folks working there!!

I did not know this place was here - I went this afternoon- very much worth the time to visit - the comment about it not being big is correct -- they have some awesome folks working there tho!

I will be to the left of the receptionist desk, in front of the stairs at 4pm. (Thank you, David, for helping me with this!)

Since I've never been there, I don't know where would be a good place to meet. David has arranged for Becky to be our personal guide. She is 6-feet tall (or taller). I am 5 ft. tall. We may be easy to find.... Becky will be leaving at 5pm, so closer to 4pm is best.

The center isn't that big. When you walk in, there is a reception desk right in front of you. I suggest that you meet to the left of the desk, in front of the stairs.

I will be there at 4pm. This has been on my list of places to go to for far too long! Would be happy to host.

If I can make it by 4PM, where will you be Jamie? I'm shooting for that, but with traffic returning from South Hills, it might be tricky. Especially since Scott says there's road construction. Just want to know where to look for you, if I can make it by 4PM.

Are most folks hoping to be there by 4PM to meet Jamie? I'm going to shoot for that time, but I live near Kennywood, and will be returning from South Hills. It it's around rush hour, traffic will be congested and I might need to stop home first to feed my Basset Hound. In that case, I won't be able to make it until evening...probably 6-7PM. Are most folks hoping to meet-up or just show up on their own, whenever??

Becky is around only until 5pm. However, the staff there is very friendly - and they welcome questions.

The Glass Center can give us one of their artists - Becky - to walk around with the group with Jamie (jherron). Let Jamie know if you are meeting up with her!

This is my favorite arts place in Pittsburgh ... I've taken multiple classes there. The Blaschka glass models are some of the "glass flowers" in the Harvard museum, but there are a lot more than flowers.
