Photowalk: Churches of East Liberty

We start the day with brunch at Paris 66 Cafe ~10:00 am so we should begin the photowalk ~11:00 am.

Since I didn't hear anything from St. Paul & Peter Church in Larimer, we won't do it this time. Instead, we'll walk to Calvary Episcopal Church (15min walk from Paris 66 cafe) & shoot the architecture from outside. We won't be able to go inside the church for photography because there will be ongoing prayer services until ~noon.

After we're done, we can try to take some pictures of the Eastminster Presbyterian Church on Highland Ave (near Home Depot), which is not too far from the East Liberty Presbyterian Church.

We have a guided tour of the ELPC & permission to shoot inside ELPC between 1:30 pm-4:00 pm. There would be someone to guide us around & show us some of the Church's features.

the ELPC has a child safety policy which all visitors must read and agree with, in order to enter ELPC premises - there are no exceptions!

I had to put in a 25 member limit because that's the maximum group size allowed by ELPC. I would encourage members to RSVP yes & join the wait-list - that way you can still join the photowalk, but entry into ELPC is not guaranteed. However, if someone drops out, or if we have no shows, you will move into the confirmed list for the ELPC tour.

I'll have extra cards with me if you need one. I can't get there for brunch, but I'll be there before 11.

Hey guys! I know this is short notice, but I just recently moved into a new apartment and when I was gathering my photo equipment, I noticed my CF cards were misplaced! I've been up for several hours looking for them to no avail! The only thing I could think of would be for someone to lend me one CF card for the duration of today's event and I'll bring my laptop and upload them straight there when we're done and hand you back your card before you leave! Anyone brave enough to trust someone they

Someone from the waiting list can have my spot for the church. Will have to leave before then.

  • John Valentich

I won't be shooting inside the church, so if anyone on the wait list wants my spot...

Howah: outdoor photowalk is open to all, but entry into ELPC is only for first 25 RSVPs. everyone else may get a chance depending on other people dropping out or not showing up

Since we are going to be able to shoot indoors have you talked to them about having tripods? Would like to bring mine if at all possible.

I really would be overwelming my weekly schedule by doing this, but will be looking towards the next event. So sad but need to be realistic. What an awesome and creative plan you have Ajay!

Ajay-- have you had any luck seeing if we can get into the abandoned church (legally, that is)? I tried to get lost and find the other one in the area but apparently I was even MORE lost than I realized the first time bc I didn't have any success!

I did not have any problems photographing the NYC churches when I was there. There were a few directives that required manners and good prudence due to not being disruptive.

Better make sure they allow photography. A lot of churches in NYC that I tried to photograph absolutely forbade it at all times (although I think that was mostly due to post card revenue and the like). I don't know how things are around here.

OOH, I've been wanting to try the crepes there but just never made it! Also can't wait to get back to St. Peter's with more people around so that I can relax a bit. There's some really great murals around there too.

This is a good plan. I have often wanted to do this, but I was afraid to walk around east liberty with my camera alone.
