Thesis Presentation on Vegetarian Festival

Hi All,
Some of you may remember that I attended the Voices for Animals/Pittsburgh Vegan Meetup outreach meeting back in February. I shared that I am putting together a plan for a vegetarian festival in Pittsburgh as part of my master's thesis in the Food Studies program at Chatham University.

I hope some of you will be able to join me and hear my public presentation entitled VegFest PGH: Celebrating all things vegetarian in Pittsburgh and beyond. It will take place in Dilworth Hall on Chatham's main campus.

I hope this will be a good starting point to bring a vegetarian festival to Pittsburgh and celebrate all of the wonderful options and resources in this community.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
Julie

I was really excited to go but unable to make it, unfortunately. I am a staunch vegan and activist, I do a ton of vegan cooking and baking, and am connected with numerous orgs in Pittsburgh and I would love to help make it a reality. I was at the Toronto Vegetarian Food Fest last year and it was fabulous! It benefits not only the attendees but also the speakers, local businesses, organizations, and the location that is hosting it. People WILL come from out of town to attend.

Julie's presentation was great and was very well-received by the faculty, students and community members who were there. She has created an excellent plan for a VegFest in Pittsburgh. The catch is, a really committed and capable person or group of people would have to take on the challenge of organizing the event. As it stands now. there is no organization in Pittsburgh that has both the willingness and capacity to pull this off. So who is going to step forward and build on what Julie has started?

So very sorry but have to change my RSVP to no now -- last-minute work meeting request that I can't get out of... :-( Best of luck on the presentation and would love to hear about it!

Would you consider having a vegan meetup to give your presentation to those of us who are interested but can't attend today? Sounds as though there is a lot of interest within the vegan community in (re-)launching a Pgh VegFest, and so perhaps more of us could get to hear about your work and formulate a plan to move it forward?

Can't be there, but hope you know we USED to have one! And some of us have been kicking around the idea of starting it again. If you want to discuss this further, please send me a private message!

Quick question Julie: Is there parking available for visitors at Chatham and if so, could you point us to where would be the best lot? Thanks and good luck! Looking forward to coming! :-)
