One of the reasons I've been fascinated with Rich Roll and Scott Jurek and ultramarathoners in general is their tolerance for pain. As someone who has dealt with a lot of chronic pain issues, I figured I could learn a lot from them in their abilities to endure the pain of these long events. If there are any other science geeks in the crowd that find this aspect of ourselves interesting, I came across an article this morning about the science of pain perception: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131007112122.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily%2Fhealth_medicine+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Health+%26+Medicine+News%29

Niki, I haven't had time to pick the book up yet and I can't remember the title. Can you remind me?

I am almost done reading the book and have thoroughly enjoyed it. However, I just realized I'll be out of town the weekend of the Book Club and won't be able to make the meetup. Enjoy the discussion! My vote for future books FWIW are nutrition & health, environmental/resources.
