I admire George for the presentation and found this quite interesting. As I will eventually be speaking upon this subject in the near future as a Holistic Health Practicioner, it was nice to resonate with him and the Vegan lifestyle. His knowledge base is tremendous !!! :)

This was a really great presentation. I loved that he made complex nutritional info very accessible. And even though I'm fairly well-versed in vegan nutrition, I learned some new things, too!

George's presentation was outstanding! It is such a pleasure to listen to someone speaking the truth, as I see it! We look forward to hosting him at Schwartz Living Market on the South Side, and at one of the monthly Sustainable Monroeville meetings, sometime soon! Elisa :)

Terrific all around. And, how wonderful that we were treated to a lovely food spread afterward by the church.

Agreed! George had a wealth of knowledge to share and I have 6 pages of notes to show for it! ;-) So grateful to all who organized such a wonderful event (including the surprise vegan food buffet, which was fabulous!)

I agree! It was a fabulous event. I didn't think there was so much more I could learn about vegetarian nutrition.

I learned so much. I'm now a big fan.

George was wonderful. He offered his expertise freely and from the heart. He is a true educator who has passion for the plant-based diet. Thanks so much for offering this meetup.

Oh wait, I just saw that he'll be at the public market.... that is sooooo convenient for me (and my yoga class time!!!!)

Can you tell me if this presentation will include imagery from factory farms or other cruelty to animals? I cannot watch those kind of disturbing images, so I am asking in advance.

    April 12, 2013

    • Claire H.

Hi Barbara -- George won't use any pictures at all -- he might describe the life of dairy cows somewhat, but no disturbing images. Thanks.

Looking forward to this event... If you like George's presentation, let him or me know of other groups/venues that might like to have him speak -- community groups, wellness classes, cancer support groups, nutrition counselors, etc... we'd be glad to give more talks in the Pittsburgh area.

I'm sure the East End Food Co-op would love to have him for an event. I can with the marketing & member services manager about it if you want to bring him there!

Thanks Katy. George will speak at the East End co-op on Wed. June 5 at 6:30 pm -- put it on your calendars!

George Eisman will give a talk on reducing your cancer risk through diet -- and other nutrition topics -- April 14 at the Seventh-day Adventist church. Please spread the word! George can also give a talk on April 15, 16, or 17.... if you have a possible location let me know!

Eat & Park Restaurants sometimes have a meeting room available. I have attended meetings on this basis. The meeting attendees have a meal at the same time as attending the meeting. Would this idea solve the problem?

    March 4, 2013

    • Claire H.

Thanks Brian, that's a possibility. I'm getting one or two talks for George confirmed and he might be able to do another talk at an Eat & Park in addition.... will let you know what the schedule looks like.

      March 5, 2013

  • Mike E.

How long would you need the room? Also it wouldn't be possible to bring in outside food.

What's the deal with this event? I love George and think having him speak is an awesome idea. If he is still coming, I could probably get us a free room at Hilman Cancer if it is possible to do it on a Sunday.

    1 · March 3, 2013

    • Claire H.

Great -- George is very willing to do this -- I'm still looking for a good time/place. If it needs to be a Sunday, the next possible one is April 21.

I can talk to the market and event managers at Pittsburgh Public Market in the strip. I'm a chef who cooks for vegans and vegetarians. I have attended many Lunch & Learn events held on third Friday of every month. Will get back to you with possible dates and time slots.

What about one of the local health food stores, like a Whole Foods Market? I heard they host a number of events free to the community.

    January 19, 2013

    • Claire H.

Thanks... I'll check with Whole Foods. Any other ideas would be welcome -- churches, schools?

      January 20, 2013

Any ideas on a good location and date for a talk by George Eisman? He'll probably speak at some colleges in the Pittsburgh area in Feb. or March.

    • Sally

What seating capacity are you anticipating?

      January 19, 2013

    • Claire H.

30 or more would be good -- 50 would be great. The East End food coop is interested but I don't think they have a big space.

50 went
