Has anyone been to the new Mad Mex at 220 Highland Avenue in Shadyside? Also, I was on the bus going through Bloomfield and there is a new restaurant opening soon called the Hollistic Cafe at 4754 Liberty Avenue. Any news about it?

A few days after I posted this question, I was in Shadyside on a Wednesday night. I meet a friend at Whole Foods and we decided to go to Mad Mex. The food was good, but it was noisy. It was difficult having a conversation. One of the reviews on Urbanspoon made the same comment. That person was there on a Sunday night.

Between the music and the other diners, it can get a little loud. The food seems pretty consistent between the restaurants as well. |

Yeah-, Mad Mex's are notoriously noisy, but they are also consistently very vegan friendly. It's a great choice for a place to go if you're in "mixed" company (ie vegans and meat-eaters). I eat there fairly often because I really like the food. I'm a big fan of the Angry Hippy burrito :o)
Don't know anything about Holistic Cafe. Sally |

The last time I went to Mad Mex it was in the afternoon and it was just me and one other table, but the music was incredibly loud. I asked them to turn it down and they did without a problem.
