What ? You never expected this? Come on! What do people in the Lower Mainland do in the summer?
THEY GO TO THE BEACH and that's where we're headed!
It's time to switch it up. We've played in the sunshine, we've played with the water coming down (it came to us but now we're going to it), we've played in the mud (there'll still be plenty of that) and tag has been played in the snow (uh, okay, you got me there...) But it's all been on dry land. Times they are a-changin'. Time to go to global warming instead of it coming to us.
What are the benefits to playing at a beach? Welllll, you get wet.
You get wet. Did you miss that? What more do you want??? You're being a kid already and what's more fun than splashing water everywhere? Tick, tock, tick, tock. C'mon think!
Thought so. There simply is no other answer. Okay, maybe there is one other reason. BECAUSE IT'S FUN!!!!
In case you still haven't figured out how it could be fun, picture this; (you veterans will know what I'm talking about)
Tunnel Tag in the water
Freeze Tag in the water
Chuck The Chicken in the water (We reserve the right to substitute the chicken for any other item at equal value or less. This offer ends soon and cannot be combined with any other offer.) (Oops, sorry. Got carried away.)
Human fooseball (Nah. Just teasing (...maybe not...). But it would be interesting.)
Other games (the surprise factor)
For all you people that have never played before, you seriously DO NOT want to miss this!
The FUN! begins at 2:00 p.m. rain or shine (you're going to get wet anyway!). Shoes or no shoes. Wear your play clothes or beachwear; mud stains are inevitable and are worn as a badge of honour. Expect to tease and be teased, run, jump and possibly slide! Laughter, sweat, grass stains (This one might be tough to do. But if you can get grass stains from the ocean you automatically get the trophy! ...uh, maybe...) and breathlessness are common side effects – though a well deserved euphoria kicks in eventually too. Hope to see you there!
1:45 Mix and mingle and set up the field
2:00 Let the games begin!
4:00 Wrap it up.
What you need:
Clothes you can get wet and dirty in! (Bring whatever you think is appropriate for the beach. Heck! Bring a snowsuit if you want to!)
Shoes (or not) you can run in. (For all you cleat wearers; Please bring them. Please, please, please... I wanna see you get traction in them. Pleeeeease...)
Snacks (good enough for trading)
Water (juice if you're a fancy-pants) <--- We won't be able to bring any along.
A Twoonie to donate towards building the FUN.
Be aware that playing tag at the beach requires a whole lotta fast moves in every direction! And possibly inhaling water! Yessssss. The fun you're having can distract you from realizing the demand on your body. Be mindful of your limits; we do not have a first aid attendant at the event. Please come prepared with anything you may need to mend yourself.
The good news is that there'll probably be a potty at the beach. No need to hold it in for two hours while running around waiting to explode.
This group is intended for adults (19+). We have no age cap; elders are welcome. If you would like to bring someone under 19 to the games, please email Chris or Michelle.
So where is this wonderful event?
