Subject: [playreading-37] July Playreading - Trial of the Catonsville Nine
The next Meetup will be held on Monday July 6, 2009 at 7 PM, at Martin Mack's bar on Haight Street, between Ashbury and Clayton. We'll meet on the terrace at the rear of the place, which has folding doors for our privacy.
The play is "The Trial of the Catonsville Nine", a gripping courtroom drama that tells a true story. There are 12 major roles, so we can share at least the biggest one, namely Father Phillip Berrigan.
Scripts are hard to get, so I have scanned one for reading purposes. If you would like a copy of the PDF file please e-mail me. It's about 1.8 Mb. You'll need Adobe Reader for Mac or PC . I would appreciate it if you would print out your script, about 25 pages, so we can all share the time and paper burden. Note: the source for the play is a paperback book with the same title, don't buy that one. The play script was written by Saul Levitt in 1970 and is only available from Samuel French.
There is a full bar and kitchen
at Martin Mack's, and Eileen Long, the owner, has graciously agreed to separate payments from each of us, so bring cash to pay on delivery.
If you are driving, allow extra time to park, since the Haight is a residential neighborhood.
See you there!
