Okay, that picture to the left is either your idea of fine dining or something out of a horror film.
(Creamed spinach, ewwwww!)
But for those of us interested in classic San Francisco restaurants, which we will visit over the coming months, House of Prime Rib is on the short list, along with Original Joe's, the Tonga Room, John's Grill, the Cliff House and a handful of other places. (Taking nominations if anyone has suggestions here.)
Needless to say, prime rib is the star of the menu, but fish, salads and sides are also available if it's just not a carnivore day for you.
I don't think parking is brutal around here, but it's not good. Lots of mass transit options available. About three quarters of a mile up Van Ness from the Civic Center BART if that's your thing.
As always, please don't RSVP unless you're pretty sure you're going to come. I'm not the backup plan for your evening. No exceptionally late cancellations either, please -- kindly leave your fellow diners ample chance to take your spot if you need to bail.
Thanks for reading, and see you at dinner, my bloody valentine!
