DO NOT RSVP FOR THIS EVENT WITHOUT BUYING YOUR TICKET HERE.
Hey, I've got a prior commitment for this evening or else I'd gladly host. But crab season is here, and the Guardsmen, a volunteer organization that works with inner-city kids, is hosting their annual crab feed from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6. If you buy your ticket before Dec. 1, the cost is $53.49 (including service charge). It goes up to $63.99 after that. And proceeds go to an excellent cause, our city's at-risk youth.
Check the map at the bottom of the ticket page -- it looks like you enter from the Marina Boulevard side of Fort Mason (where the cars enter), unlike the Friday night food trucks where there are multiple entry points. Your ticket includes drinks and a crab and pasta dinner. The evening wraps up with dancing and DJ Ajax spinning tunes in a pavilion lined with Christmas trees. Sounds like a perfect evening to me!
Also, if one of my many event organizers wants to step up and host this, I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Anyone who does so gets a drink on me next time I see you. As this is not an event requiring someone to figure out a check and so on, it should be pretty low-pressure. All my boilerplate about blowing off events isn't necessary here either, as attendees have already paid.
Even though this is currently no-host, I'd encourage people to sign up if they're at all interested. Once a couple of people do, it should take off from there.
Thanks, and I will host a crab event of my own sometime soon! Maybe a few of them!
