They are truly entrenched in the food culture of LA, and that yields spectacular culinary treats for those of us lucky enough to RSVP in time! It is fun to be able to just show up somewhere and meet others who are interested in things rather than trying to do it all yourself or dragging your other friends along who have no interest. Meet up gives you a set of people who want to do what you do! How perfect. ”

“ If this experience is typical of this group's experiences then ABSOLUTELY join. The whole point of going with a group, is the ability to order many dishes that you can share and from what I've read in some of their other meetups, these are not just in restaurant but other adventurous venues. The cost may not be as low as it was for the meat market in Redondo Beach but I think they will chose places not too expensive, but if not, at least they give you an idea of the price range. I think they go all over L.A. county not only for a particular event location but also so more people can participate, they someday will find a place close to where YOU live, as a person who doesn't like to drive far, I wish they had more in the South Bay!! ”

“ I am not qualified to say as this was my first experience with meet up groups. I do think though that settling the check should be handled better. If I were king, I would come up with a dollar amount that includes wine, tax and tip (so people can know without any knee jerk surprises what they will be spending), and then work with the restaurant to come up with a menu that includes wine pairing and feeds and wines all members with no additional charges, paid upon arrival. ”
