WAITING LIST REMINDER:

This event has a MANUAL waiting list. That means that if someone drops off the "yes" list, a spot will open up temporarily on the "yes" list, until I'm able to MANUALLY add someone from the waiting list (after confirming that he/she is still interested and available).

If a spot does open up on the "yes" list, but you see that there's still a waiting list, DO NOT RSVP AS YES. That would allow you to bypass all the people on the waiting list, which is just totally uncool.

Plus, I'll catch you doing it, and if I do, you will be (1) booted from this event entirely, and (2) reported to Abby as a waiting list violator.

Instead: Just add yourself to the waiting list like a good PP citizen. Chances are, you'll get a chance to attend anyway, since a lot of folks who WL themselves early on make other plans by the time the event comes around.

Got the drift? Class dismissed! Hope to see ya there.

Usually, when you go to a breakfast joint, standard fare includes items like eggs, bacon, waffles and pancakes; however, as many of you know, the Los Angeles culinary landscape is very ethnic based and what you normally may expect from a Denny's or IHOP isn't the only breakfast in town, which brings us into the "Ain't Always Eggs & Bacon" restaurant series.

The "Ain't Just Eggs and Bacon" breakfast series focuses on different ethnic breakfasts to be had around town. This morning, it's all about the traditional English breakfast at Tudor House.

Sure, they eat eggs and bacon in the UK, too..... but Brits call bacon "rashers," and each piece is thicker cut, looking more like a comma than a straight line.

Anglophiles like me know that there's nothing better than a good English breakfast (aka "heart attack on a bleedin' plate"):
- Fried eggs
- Rashers
- Baked beans in tomato sauce, always Heinz, and always from a can, different than the BBQ style we yanks know and love;
- Devonshire or Cumberland sausages, which are more finely-fleshed, milder tasting, and plumper than your typical US breakfast sausage: http://en.wikipedia.o...
- Fried tomatoes (and sometimes also fried bread and fried mushrooms, these guys like to fry).
- Black pudding, which despite its name, is most definitely NOT a dessert, nor is it technically black: http://en.wikipedia.o...

Brits also have a thing for Frenchified food, which is why Tudor House's menu also includes a "breakfast croque" (meaning a breakfast version of the popular grilled cheese sandwich, "Croque Monsieur"). You can also get a "gammon" (aka ham) breakfast, as well as healthier fare, such as Muesli or fruit salad.

Breakfast in the UK wouldn't be complete without a "cuppa" - black tea, not coffee - and Tudor House has a very traditional tea menu, including UK faves PG Tips and Typhoo:

**NOTE: I AM NOT PRE-ORDERING ANYTHING. YOU CAN ORDER ANYTHING YOU LIKE OFF THE MENU WHEN YOU SHOW UP - YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ORDER THE ENGLISH BREAKFAST.

The cost of this event is the cost of whatever breakfast you decide to order. Please bring cash. The breakfast menu can be browsed here:

Hope you can join me for this rib-sticking Sunday breakfast!
