LATEST UPDATE: The garden tour at the Hortense Miller Garden starts at 9:45 AM. So you must arrive at the meeting point of Riddle Field Park. The address of the park is 600 Hillcrest Dr, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. The docent for the agarden will meet us there and then lead us to the garden which is on a private road.

PLEASE NOTE: do not sign Up as Yes until you have actually bought your tix to attend the Pageant of Masters on 07/25/09. The cost is around 435 each tix, plus a $2 service charge. Purchase your tix online via: http://www.foapom.com...

Ever since the Boom Boom Room closed down a few years ago, I have avoided going to Laguna Beach because its such a toursit trap. But during the months of July and August, the city beckons me to visit and I find the siren call irresisteble because the hold not 1, but 3, yes 3 art fairs in conjucntion.

You have:

The Sawdust Festival: http://www.yelp.com/b...

The Festival of the Arts: http://www.yelp.com/b...

and the piece de resistance, the Pageant of Masters: http://www.yelp.com/b...

And if that's not enough for a Culture Vulture like myself, then there's the Hortense Mill Garden: http://www.hortensemi...

Please note this is an ALL DAY and Eve event. Its like spending a day at Disneyland, but this time we will be immersing ourselves in art and culture instead of crass commercialism.

We'll start out touring the Hortense Miller Garden at 10 AM SHARP.

Then we'll head over to the area of the art festivals on Laguna Canyon Road. You MUST be in decent shape, since there will be a lot of walking involved.

We will attend each festival. Pageant of Masters tix - you need to purchase those well in advance. remember that you need to purchase tix for the July 25th event, since that is the day I will act as your Pleasure Palate host and guide.

I recommend bringing a pair of binoculars to the Pageant, so that you can truly admire the detail of the costumes and artwork. I think you can also rent binoculars at the site.

I'm estimating the cost for everything is around $100 per person. That's for lunch, dinner, and the 3 art shows. It would be about the same amount of money if you spent an entire day at Disneyland.

We'll end up seating separately at the event, but we really can't do any group bonding once the Pageant starts. Its like watching a movie or a play. However, the real group bonding occurs earlier in the day during the garden tour, the 2 other art fairs, and during lunch and dinner. By the time the Pageant starts in the evening, you'll be need to focus your attention solely on the show itself.

    •  Wonderful show and all the art!
    •  It could have just been called "a day of beauty" because of all the wonderful art we saw at the festivals and show.
    •  Thank you Robert it was a great adventure and something that I have been wanting to do for years. Glad you gave the final push so I could experience this once in a lifetime event.
