4th of July Celebration: Kayaking in Naples Island

Please note: I am hosting this event for both Gay Foodies and Pleasure Palate. This is part of a series of events taking place in Long Beach on 4th of July. The events are a la carte - you don't have to attend the other events to participate in this one.

This will be the 3rd year in a row that I'm hosting a kayaking event in the Naples Island area of Long Beach. Todd and I like visiting Naples Island this time of year because the locals have an annual tradition of having a no holds barred water fight throughout the day.

So not only do you get to enjoy kayaking around the scenic district of Naples Issland, but you also get into water fights with other kayakers, boaters, swimmers, and any other person you pass by by while kayaking. Needless to say that you will get wet. So make sure to leave any of your electronic devices in your vehicle.

You can bring water guns and water balloons, but I strongly recommend getting a water blaster or water cannon. You might be able to find them at a local sporting goods store, but I ordered mine online.

This will be your only chance of the year to get into water fights with total strangers that include muscular good looking men and beautiful women in swim wear without anyone caring. So hose them down with as much water as you can throw or shoot at them!

Kayaks on the Water charges around $9 per person per hour, but you can get more details here:

Bring ca$h to pay the vendor. We will be kayaking for about 2 hours.

I would also recommend bringing a roll of quarters to pay for parking at local area parking lots. It is a bit of a challenge finding parking in the beach area because as you can expect, many people like to congregate at the beach during 4th of July.

I also recommend that you bring your beach clothes, clothes to change into after kayaking, towels, and footwear appropriate for the beach and getting wet.

After kayaking, we will have dinner at a restaurant within walking distance at Belmont Shore around 5:30 PM. Then around 8:00 PM, we will head to the beach to get a good spot to watch the fireworks display held by Long Beach.
