Please note: This is a whole day event. People always ask me where I took my profile pic. I had the pic taken last April at the Flower Fields of Carlsbad. If you want to view gorgeous row after row of flowers in a picture perfect setting, then this is the place for you. We will meet at 7:30 AM SHARP (do not be late or you will be left behind) in front of Platine in Culver City:
http://www.yelp.com/b... For every 4 people that are attending the event, we will need one volunteer designated driver. I highly recommend parking on Elenda since there aren't any street meters in that road. If you want so save some money, pack some snacks and water. Make sure that you ask your designated driver if its okay to drink beverages or snacks in their car as a courtesy. If your skin is fair, I would recommend bringing some sunblock lotion as well. I also HIGHLY recommend that you empty your bladder before arriving at Platine. This way e don't need to make any restroom stops until we hit the first destination down in San Diego County. For the designated drivers in the group, please make sure to fill up your car with gas the night before. From Culver City, we'll hop on the 405 and head down to the 5. I will provide all the designated drivers detailed directions and maps. To kick things off, we'll have some caffeine and breakfast at Pannikin Coffee & Tea:
http://www.yelp.com/b... Estimated cost for breakfast is around $10 to $15, depending on what you order. Afterward, we'll head to the nearby SLR mediation Garden at Encinitas:
http://www.yelp.com/b... You will reach a zen like state of being at the calm, serene green of the garden. We'll then head up to Carlsbad to experience a riot of rainbow hues:
http://www.yelp.com/b... After we have had our dose of color, we'll enhance the European like experience by having lunch at Tip Top Meats & European Delicatessan:
http://www.yelp.com/b... Estimated cost for lunch is also between $10 to $15, depending on what you order. Total estimated cost is between $40 to $50. That will include gas money to your designated driver ($10), the $10 admission fee to the Flower Fields (you get a discount if you are a Triple A member), and your breakfast and lunch. If you pack your own food, then your estimated cost will be lower. You are strongly encouraged to bring snacks, beverages and sunscreen.

Robert planned a great day. We had enjoyable meals at two restaurants, went to the beautiful gardens at the Self Realization Fellowship, and experienced the flower fields in beautiful weather. Thank you, Robert.

This is an all day event, so I think we won't be heading back to LA until mid afternoon, since we'll be having breakfast, 2 places of interest and lunch together. I don't want to rush things since this is one of those 'stop and smell the roses' kind of activities.

Wondering what time people think they might be heading back to LA County proper.

Not sure if this link will for you, but its supposed to be a 2 for 1 deal for admission to the Carlsbad Flower Fields. If you are able to sign up online, make sure your admission is good for 04/18! Here's the link: http://image.exct.net/lib/fef01278766c02/d/1/FlowerFieldsCoupons_rev.pdf
