I'd say that Mexican (or Southwestern) is my favorite type. I just love the typical ingredients featured in it. It makes my food choices fairly predictable. If we go to any restaurant, be it American or French or anywhere inbetween, you can expect me to order a dish that features peppers or diced tomatos.
I'm new to LA so I have to find new ones. When I was in San Diego, my favorite place was probably Brockton Villa, a restaurant converted from a home overlooking La Jolla Cove. It was a great location with a homey feel. The smaller venue meant that although tables could be hard to come by (reservations are a must), all dishes were created with care. I highly recommend going if you're ever in San Diego.
One Thanksgiving, my family and I went to Vegas. For dinner, we Thai food in this hole-in-the wall restaurant on the outskirts of town. The food was great. The irony and good but the memories make it even better.
