Savory yet sweet. I like both tastes and love to "experience" food, in restaurants and at home, cooking. I favor meals that have unexpected combinations and local, fresh and seasonal ingredients. I savor company that appreciates the same.
I have tabs and grease stains on pages in Delicioso!, Hollywood Dish and Nigella Bites. I visit farmers markets at least once a month for anything that's in season, and then look for recipes online from America's Test Kitchen and Epicurious.
It's a 3-way tie for most memorable meals: My special vegetarian plate at my brother's wedding; my first dinner in Spain, and several years later, the yakitori at Kokekkoko. My fave meal everywhere is a complete salad and dessert.
A big, warm Belgian waffle with berries and whipped cream; churros con chocolate; mashed potatoes (esp. from Tender Greens); spaghetti carbonara; roast chicken and roasted potatoes; arroz caldo (a Filipino chicken and rice soup).
Spanish, Asian, Mexican, and now that I have a two-year supply of Hatch chiles -- New Mexican/Southwestern! Unfortunately, there aren't any New Mexican restaurants in Southern California.
I have favorites for different reasons; they run the gamut. But you can find me at Tender Greens often; I actually Twitter Tender Greens for the daily specials. I also have dreams of restaurants I had visited in Barcelona.
"I was raised in California, lived in Hawaii and have an obssesion with Spanish culture. So my food tastes run practially everywhere, and I'm an adventurous diner. I've eaten some really bizarre food. I'm not shy about shrimp heads and sweetbreads!"
