Scrambled Poetry, Constructive critiques, and Group Poetry

Naida had an interesting idea, so Naida I'm counting on you to provide the first part of this meetup. A poem will be chopped up in separate lines and put on the table like a puzzle. Each person will decide how the poet initially intended the poem to be arranged. This should be an interesting exercise in not just our own perception of poetry, but how the original poet arranged his or her thoughts.

Please also bring any poems you have been working on and we will help you find rhythm and voice in a piece you may be having trouble creating.

We will top off the meetup with a popular exercise in group poetry. Each person will start a line in a poem and then pass it to the next person who will add a line to your poem. This is a fun attempt at building a group dynamic which often leads to humor and lunacy. Hope you can join us for this meetup!

I really enjoy Scrambled Poetry and the Group Poetry. I am so new at this activity that I wouldn't know if the Meetup were "bad."

Nice to see new faces (Jamie and Fritz) as well as our devoted regulars. Scrambled poetry gave new perspectives and points of view. Much better than fried poetry or poetry over easy. Group poetry was again a hit.
