Hmmm .... this might answer that question: Of her purpose for writing Dr. Williams says: "I frequently do not err on the side of caution in my writing, but I believe in the purpose of it: to speak to the things others do not want to speak of, with the hopes of reaching that one woman, or her lover, or her friend, who refuses to deal with her pain, who hides from it, who doesn't think she'll survive it. That's the audience I hope to reach."
T. S. Eliot, Robert Hayden, Alice Walker (in a few instances), Toi Derricotte, Tamara J. Madison.
I seek network and community here in Long Beach. I am a writer and a night owl and am looking to have poet friends I can call at 2 a.m. when that poem has just slid off the transom and I need to know if it is good or in need of revision. Looking for friendship, comradeship, and colleagues serious about turning our work into art, and specifically, art that can help those in pain. I may be opening a non-profit next year.
Author of 13 titles on Lulu.com who may be on the verge of book number 14. Looking to commune with other writers and become part of a community here in Long Beach. Former lit professor who would love to share gentle critiques.
I'm honored to be a member. Honored!!!!
