Let me be very clear right from the start, I am a new player and am pretty rubbish at the moment! This is a group for people who enjoy the idea of home games with poker beginners.
If you are an experienced / good player, then with the greatest of respect this is not the group for you ... anyone obviously fleecing us every game will not be welcome!
I have had a few home games and enjoy the event of meeting up for a sociable few hours just as much (if not more!) than the game itself, so if you feel the same please get in touch.
Just starting this group to see what interest there is ... and see where it goes from there. I live just a few miles East of Malmesbury, and can host games in my home.
It is a family home so there are some fairly obvious rules which as default will apply to all our games ...
- No swearing - No smoking (indoors) - Limited alcohol consumption - Respectable behaviour at all times - Respect the persons home and furnishings - Do not take the game too seriously
As for the money involved, my suggestion is that all players put £5 in a pot at the start of the evening. No more cash goes in with the exception of one rebuy allowed for another £2.50 in the pot (for half the amount of chips you started with).
Winner gets 75% of pot (rounded up to nearest pound), second place gets the remainder. This way there is a little excitement but very limited losses for people.
Everyone brings their own food and drink ... not talking take-away curries here, just snacks if wanted. Host may supply some snacks if they are feeling generous!
Not sure how often we should try and meet, maybe every two weeks? Also not sure on what evening. I sometimes have to work away so could only make a Saturday evening but I'm aware this may not be convenient for all.
Time wise I would suggest something like 6:30pm to 11:00pm? Let me know your thoughts on which day, times, etc.
That's the basics, I'm sure we will need to tweak these guidelines but it's a start.
Say hello and we shall go from there.
PS. All ages (over 16) and genders welcome. For your information I am a male on the wrong side of 50!
